This is a REVIEW FOR THE BANH MI ONLY TL;DR: Inauthentic and unsatisfying due to corner cutting and ingredient substitutions. Ok for white people I ordered the 'classic'/cold cut sandwich to go and ate it about 10 mins later. Here are my general expectations for banh mi: 1) One half (usually the top?) should be Vietnamese mayo, other (bottom) half should be a thick smear of pate 2) At least 3 kinds of Vietnamese cold cuts - Cut lengthwise where 1 layer = ~2 slice lengths >= bread length 3) Veggies should be matchsticks - Have some crisp/snap to them - Even ratio for pickled carrots+daikon - Cucumbers should be spears, two rows of 2-3 spears - Cilantro should be similar length - Peppers/heat should be optional/by request and they should be hot 4) Soy sauce/seasoning 5) General mix should be: Mayo+Pate - 10%, Meat - 40-50%, Veg - 40-50% If you disagree stop reading here. Low expectations, but recently moved nearby and wanted to give them a chance. One of the early indicators for the quality of the banh mi i'm in for is the weight: if it feels on the hefty side it's usually due to being stuffed with cheaper ingredients. The bun itself is larger than standard, I would have liked it toasted a little bit more but otherwise it seemed to be the correct kind. After my first bite I realized the interior is where the issues were. The taste: I could smell the mayo before I even took my first bite. The American ham has no flavor or texture. It tasted like a Vietnamese inspired bread bowl turned into a sandwich. Because the carrots were the wrong size, they retained too much liquid without adding the right texture. There was no seasoning in the pate, mayo, pickles, or cold cuts. Good: 1) Bread was toasted 2) Included pickled carrots+daikon, cucumber, and cilantro Bad: 1) The meat - Only American ham and cha - Width cuts instead of length cuts 2) Didn't use Vietnamese mayonnaise 3) Pickled veg - Imbalanced ratio 80% carrot, 20% daikon - Bad texture: shredded instead of matchsticks - V mild, more like sprayed with vinegar, or quicker than quick pickle - Missing pickled onion 4) Barely any pate 5) Cucumbers were sliced instead of spears 6) Added jalapenos w/o asking me if I wanted heat, but the jalapenos had no heat Won't be getting a banh mi here again, but may consider trying their egg/springrolls since I saw a review below.

We had our last meal at Seattle this evening from this little restaurant. The atmosphere is like another Vietnamese restaurant- small but cozy. The food is however amazing. Bahn mi classic was excellent. My wife's shrimp roll was amazing. Asked the person at the counter for extra jalapenos and he did not disappoint.
