One thing I didn't expect is to be offered a bowl of pho to dip the bahn mi in - for just two extra dollars. I've never seen this offered before at a Vietnamese restaurant - even ones that serve both pho and bahn mi. I am glad to report that this bahn mi was surprisingly good - and that starts with the bread. This baguette was excellent. A lot of times you run into the issue where the bread is too hard and too chewy, but they did a great job here making it fresh. This felt crunchy and flaky on the outside, but surprisingly soft on the inside. The ratio of the toppings was also very nice. The mayo was spread well and creamy, and the vegetables added up to taste pretty good. The pork was a little less good. While the portion size was decent, this just felt way too dry - like it had been sitting out for a while. The whole sandwich could've been really good if this had been better Dipping this in the pho was super cool though. While a little messy, the wetness softened up the bread and added a unique flavor I really liked. For the price of around $17, to get a bahn mi + a decent sized cup of pho is actually a good deal. It's not a huge sandwich, but it gets the job done Overall, I think this is an above average bahn mi, but nothing crazy. 7.75/10
My wife and I dropped by without a plan because we were hungry, and it was a great find. The Pho was delicious, and I especially loved the generous portion of brisket. Highly recommend!
I can’t speak to the banh mi but the pho is really not good. It has basically no flavor and the meat is rubbery (not tender at all). Wasn’t provided with any utensils, sriracha or hoisin sauce in my to go order. It’s just not good. Which is sad bc it’s $19.90
I have gotten take out from this spot a few times and I would say that before the rebrand, it was much better. It all feels too confusing and complicated now. I like the broth of the pho and it tastes pretty good. I ordered tofu spring …
I love their Banh Mi! Order togo for Lemongrass pork and brisket. The brisket is super tender, Pho-flavored brisket and well seasoned, super yummy with fresh pickled daikon and carrot. The pork is over seasoned a little bit (hit and miss depends on cook I think) on the day I made the order. The price is a bit steep for $15 for beef and $13 for pork compared to the size of the banh mi. But it’s downtown SLU, convenient location.. the service is mediocre and slow. They are nice and respectful but need to be speedy at work. Took almost 20’ from ordering to left at the door for 2 loaves of bread and only 2 customers..still recommend the quality and nice convenient spot if you are craving for Viet food.
