With a 4.2 rating from 265 reviews, it has become a familiar local option for Sunday brunch, lunch plates, casual dinners, and pickup near Newpark Mall. The restaurant is best known by guests for a quiet, pleasant atmosphere, thoughtful service, and a menu that goes beyond standard sushi to include bento combinations, grilled items, tempura, hand rolls, and unexpected fusion plates.
For a satisfying meal, the bento boxes are a natural starting point. Reviewers mention salmon bento, well-balanced bento box combinations, mixed tempura, unagi hand rolls, and green tea as reliable choices, especially for lunch or brunch. Seafood lovers have also ordered grilled squid and hamachi kama, while vegetarian-friendly options noted by customers include grilled peppers and grilled tofu. The menu's fusion side shows up in dishes like mushroom risotto and Benedict with smoked salmon on waffle, giving groups a mix of familiar Japanese comfort and creative plates without needing to leave Newark.
The setting is part of the appeal. Guests describe the ambiance as quiet, nice, and genuinely delightful, with decor that carries the fusion idea into the dining room. It works well for a relaxed Sunday brunch, a first visit with friends, or a group meal where conversation matters as much as the food. One group of seven appreciated having a back area to themselves, while other diners enjoyed sitting outside for pickup. Service is often described as warm and welcoming, with staff members such as Sunny, Sonny, and Henry mentioned for attentive help, refills, and a friendly table experience.
For families and mixed-taste groups, the value is in variety. Someone can order a hand roll or tempura, another can choose a bento, and another can try a fusion entree such as mushroom risotto. Customer comments also point to portions and combinations that feel balanced rather than overly complicated. While pricing impressions vary, the restaurant comes across as a practical local choice for diners who want a calm meal, friendly service, and a menu with more range than a typical quick sushi stop.
Like many neighborhood restaurants, Vinum Japanese Fusion & Bar can feel busiest during rush periods, and one pickup guest noted a long wait when the kitchen was backed up. That practical detail is useful for planning: if you are ordering popular grilled dishes or visiting at peak dinner time, allow a little extra time. For locals, nearby shoppers, and visitors searching for a sushi restaurant in Newark, CA, this spot offers a comfortable balance of sushi, Japanese plates, fusion brunch ideas, and attentive hospitality at 2025 Newpark Mall Rd.

Sign in to reviewOur new local favorite place for Sunday brunch offering excellent yummillicious food and quiet ambiance. Their Bento Boxes are of perfect mix balance combination. The staff are warm, welcoming and Sonny is particularly attentive, always at your service. Menu price is reasonable. We hope to be back soon with family and friends.
I sat outside and ordered pickup at 645pm for grilled squid, hamachi kama , grilled peppers and grilled tofu. I kept checking in every 15 minutes wondering where my food was as I was outside sitting at a table. I got my order an hour later. I asked why it took so long and he said becuase if the rush . I told him i ordered before all the people showed up and he shrugged then said it was because the fish was frozen. I asked to speak to a manager and he said there wasn't one. I got in my car and 5 minutes later I got 2 text messages, 1 saying my order was confirmed and then 1 more right afterwards saying it was now ready. Food was okay, not great. He obviously screwed up and didnt place my order and lied about it. I pre paid 20% tip to wait an hour and be lied to. I won't be coming back here.
I arrived here on a Sunday afternoon for the first time. I ordered from its lunch menu: salmon bento, mixed tempura, unagi hand-rolled & green tea. Everything was delicious & my server, Sunny, provided excellent service. He refilled my water & green tea. When I told him it’s a bit warm in the dining area, he increased the air condition. I will teturn again. This time with my whole family.
Went for brunch on a Sunday. We had a group of 7 and had the back area to ourselves which was great. Ambiance was nice. Food was a little on the pricey side and was ok. I got the Benedict with Smoked Salmon on Waffle. Waffle was ok but wasn't great. That affected my overall enthusiasm for the meal. Going to brunch once was fine. I'd be open to their dinner menu. The area is nice
Our first time here. The atmosphere was a true delight! The fusion is in the decor as well as the food selection. Food was excellent... particularly the Mushroom Risotto. It is much better than others that I've had at Italian restaurants! The service from Henry (Di-Ha) was top-notch! We will be back when we have more time to chill and enjoy the wine.
