About

What's New is listed on FindALoco in New Orleans, LA with address, phone, hours, and map location. Common services and related keywords include Gift Shop.

What's New is a gift shop at 824 Decatur St in New Orleans, Louisiana, a convenient stop for visitors exploring the city and looking for a small keepsake or a distinctive gift. The shop is open daily, Monday through Sunday, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Its location and broad selection make it a place to browse at your own pace, whether you are shopping for someone else or hoping to bring home something that reminds you of your time in New Orleans. Customer feedback describes the store as cool and charming, with a mix of unique items to look through.

Shoppers have mentioned jewelry, glassware, and other appealing finds among the merchandise. One customer praised a Mark Edge LV necklace, describing it as beautiful and noting that the price felt affordable. Other visitors have noticed items that appear locally made, though the available information does not confirm the maker or origin of each product. That variety is part of the browsing experience: you may come across something that feels special, but it is worth comparing prices, particularly for goods that are also sold at other shops nearby. The selection can suit travelers seeking a present, a decorative item, or a compact souvenir rather than a specific, guaranteed product.

What's New may work well for people who enjoy exploring independent-feeling gift shops and taking time to see what catches their eye. The reviews point to a range of unique and charming merchandise, and one visitor appreciated staff who were friendly and helpful. Experiences have not been consistent, however: other customers describe interactions that felt unfriendly, including concerns about how a child was addressed in the store. These contrasting accounts are useful context for visitors, especially anyone shopping with children or who values a particularly attentive service experience. A visit is best approached as an opportunity to browse, with expectations that the selection and service may not be the same for everyone.

Before making a purchase, consider checking an item's price against other nearby options and asking about the shop's return policy. One reviewer reported that returns were not accepted, while another described a difficulty with tap-to-pay at checkout; these are individual customer reports, not confirmation of current store policy or payment availability. If a specific item or payment method matters to your plans, it may be helpful to confirm details with the shop before relying on them. For a casual stop on Decatur Street, What's New in New Orleans, LA offers a chance to browse jewelry, glassware, and other gift-shop finds, with daily hours that make it easy to fit into a day around town.

This place has some nice stuff that appears locally made. However there's also plenty of stuff you can find at many other shops for much cheaper. I bought a glass and found it at several other places $20 cheaper. They don't accept returns, and they weren't particularly friendly about it. So it's worth a visit, but check out other shops before buying anything.

While shop has charming items, it’s the main reason we returned to it, the woman behind the counter was rude to myself and my autistic daughter because she put her iPad on the table next to delicate items. She raised her voice and loudly addressed us from across the store, which caught the attention of other shoppers, saying “can you watch your daughter? She putting (something) on the table”. She absolutely could’ve handled it in a much more friendly and approachable way. I chose not to purchase anything, only the little voodoo doll my son wanted since we were only going to purchase items in this shop on our way back home and didn’t want to risk not finding it. Terrible experience.

The woman behind the counter was rude. The machine wasn't working for the customers that were ringing out when I entered, and they had to leave without paying. The woman told the girl it was on her end. When I tried to make my purchase, also with tap pay, it declined. I had just used my phone a few minutes prior for a drink (and again a few minutes later at the Harley store). My partner was able to purchase my items with his credit card as I hadn't brought my wallet. I worked in the banking industry for years, it was clearly on her end that debit transactions weren't working. Her attitude was rude and weird, and there's too many other similar shops to recommend this one.
