Williams Plum Street Snowballs is an ice cream shop at 1300 Burdette St in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is a casual stop for a cold, sweet treat, with snowballs at the center of the menu and a range of flavors to choose from. Customer reviews describe soft ice as a highlight for some visitors, while others have found the texture or flavor less to their liking, so individual experiences can vary. The shop has a 4.7-star rating from 742 reviews, offering prospective visitors a useful snapshot of its local reception without guaranteeing that every order will be the same.
Snowballs are a signature choice, and customer mentions offer a few ideas for what to try. One visitor paired banana and wedding cake flavors with condensed milk; another enjoyed cream of coconut stuffed with pineapple Dole Whip. These combinations show how guests can build a more indulgent treat, while simpler flavor choices may suit someone who wants something straightforward. Reviews praise the broad flavor selection, but also note that condensed milk can make a snowball taste especially sweet and that flavors may not stand out equally in every combination. If you prefer a lighter or more distinct flavor, consider how rich toppings might affect the overall taste.
The setup is informal and geared toward ordering at a window, then sitting outside or taking your order to go; reviewers note that there is no indoor seating. That makes Williams Plum Street Snowballs a practical option for a quick dessert stop, a casual outing, or a treat to enjoy while exploring New Orleans. Visitors have also mentioned souvenir cups and takeout cartons, which give you a choice of how to carry your order. Reviews describe the prices as fair, though some customers have felt that the wait, price, texture, or flavor did not meet their expectations. Checking the current setup in person can help you plan your visit.
The shop is open daily from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., according to its listed hours, at 1300 Burdette St, New Orleans, LA 70118. My wife and I had Williams Plum Street Snowballs recommended to us by a friend who is originally from New Orleans but lives in Memphis now. When someone from New Orleans tells you that you need to try a certain place, you listen, and I am glad we did because this place was definitely worth the stop. We both ordered the small pails, which were actually a really good size. I went with the strawberry shortcake, and my wife got the peaches and cream. Both were absolutely amazing. The ice was incredibly soft and fine, and the flavors were sweet without being too much. My strawberry shortcake had plenty of flavor all the way through instead of just having syrup sitting on top. I tried the peaches and cream as well, and that one was just as good. Between the two, I honestly do not know which one I liked better. One thing that really stood out was the service. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and moved quickly. We had no wait when we arrived, so we were able to order and get our snowballs right away. Watching them make everything right in front of you also adds to the experience. There are so many flavors to choose from that I could easily see myself coming back several times just to try different combinations. You can also tell when a neighborhood spot is good by who is actually there. There were more than six families sitting outside enjoying their snowballs, with a bunch of young kids running around and eating theirs. Most of the kids looked like they were under eight years old. That told me everything I needed to know. This is clearly one of those local places that families have been coming to and enjoying together. Williams Plum Street Snowballs was a great recommendation and one of those places that feels like part of the New Orleans experience. Great flavors, great service, no wait, and a fun atmosphere. The strawberry shortcake and peaches and cream were both excellent. We would absolutely come back the next time we are in New Orleans.
I usually catch Plum St at the French Quarter Fest. I decided to stop by today. I got a small pail with Banana & Wedding Cake with condensed milk. Overall the ice was soft, but the flavors didn’t stand out as I had hope. The snowball just tasted sweet (maybe the condensed milk overpowered). The customer service was great, social staff (older lady very nice) who alerted me of the pail sizes. There’s a $1 surcharge for card payments.
We went there cause they have pineapple dolewhip. I got the cream of coconut stuffed with dolewhip. 10/10. It was great but honestly the woman who made the snowballs was amazing. She’s an older lady very very great with people. I think she the owner but she made a great snowball even greater .
This place was so cute! The prices were fair and the flavors were vast. FYI, there is no indoor seating, it’s more like a window order and sit or go. We got the souvenir cups so we can always remember our trip there, but they do sell them in the to go cartons which is a cute touch. Highly recommend finding and trying this small-town feel, local gem!
I ordered a medium stuffed snowball. I found it odd they gave me a bag opposed to napkins when I ordered a cup. Considering the wait and the price, the ice is very crunchy and the flavor was nothing special. I couldn’t recommend this place.
