For diners exploring Vietnamese-owned businesses in the United States, this New Orleans spot offers a place to try Chinese-inspired comfort food, dumplings, noodles, and bakery desserts. Customer feedback is varied, as it can be at any restaurant: the listing shows a 4.5-star rating from 212 reviews, while individual experiences differ by dish and visit. That range makes it useful to choose with your own preferences in mind and ask the staff about menu options when you arrive.
Several reviewers highlight dumplings as a reason to visit. Beef soup dumplings and pork buns are described as hot and fresh, with well-cooked fillings; another guest recommends the crawfish dumplings and soup dumplings. Bao, Beijing zhajiang noodles, and spicy seafood noodle soup also appear among dishes customers have enjoyed. These are helpful starting points if you are visiting with friends or family and want to share a few plates, though reviews reflect personal experiences rather than a guarantee that every dish will suit every diner.
The atmosphere has drawn positive comments, too. One guest describes a relaxed setting with soft jazz, a comfortable place to unwind or get some work done, and attentive service. Other reviewers mention friendly staff and food arriving quickly. A table button is also noted by one diner as a convenient way to request service or the check. Together, these details suggest Wishing Town may suit a casual meal, a noodle or dumpling stop, or an unhurried visit when you would like a more laid-back setting. The address is in New Orleans’ Nashville Avenue area, with one reviewer noting the restaurant as a find near Whole Foods.
Dessert is part of the appeal for some guests: the Yuzu cheesecake is specifically recommended, and reviewers also suggest checking out the desserts. Since tastes and experiences vary, it can be sensible to look over the menu and ask what is available during your visit. One online-order customer found the General’s Chicken mediocre and felt the meal did not offer good value, a useful reminder that not every review is glowing. If you are looking for Wishing Town Restaurant & Bakery in New Orleans, LA, and are curious about dumplings, noodles, bao, seafood soup, or cheesecake, customer feedback points to several dishes worth considering while keeping expectations grounded in your own tastes.

Ordered online so can’t comment on the service or the atmosphere and won’t make it negative because of that but the food was arguably the most mediocre Chinese food Ive ever had. I ordered with some of my co-workers and for almost $18 including tax it was lacking. I ordered the General’s Chicken and first off it looked nothing like the image on their site. It tasted like something out of a frozen bag. The portion was also incredibly small for almost $20. That taste was bland and the sauce was watery. I got a total of 7 pieces of chicken in my entire entree. I’m sure there are other things on the menu that are good but if you’re going to offer something at least make sure it’s good or remotely looks like what you’re putting out. I would not return and would not order again.
Wishing Town is easily one of my favorite finds near Whole Foods! The atmosphere is relaxing, with soft jazz floating in the air that makes you just want to sit back, unwind, or breeze through some work. We ordered the Beijing Zhajiang noodles, a steaming basket of bao, and the soup dumplings. Honestly, every bite hit the spot! The Zhajiang noodles are springy and bouncy, tossed in a sauce that was rich, savory, and full of depth. The soup dumplings are fun to eat 🤤 — one bite releases a burst of delicious, hot soup that’s super flavorful without being greasy at all — just watch out for that hot first sip. For the bao, its skin is soft, and stuffed generously with 5-6 different ingredients. Overall this is a hidden gem. Always love to drop by for a meal.
We had the beef soup dumplings, and pork buns. Both were really great. Came out very hot and fresh. Veggies and meat were both cooked perfectly inside. Menu hack: Order the cucumber salad and then a side order of rice noodles, then mix. Sooooo dang good and refreshing. Definitely check out the desserts while you’re there. Great selection and they are amazing! We had the Yuzu Cheesecake and Chocolate Toffee Mousse Cake. Both had outstanding flavors. Would definitely get again. Service was good, pricing was pretty standard!
I had a great experience at Wishingtown Restaurant and Bakery! Our waiter was very friendly and attentive, the food came out quickly, and the dumplings were tasty. Definitely recommend stopping by if you’re looking for good food and great service.
The food here was absolutely phenomenal. I highly recommend the crawfish dumplings, soup, dumplings, spicy seafood noodle soup, and the Yuzu cheesecake It’s really nice because they have a button that they leave on your table and you can press the button when you need service are ready for the check or need to order.
