In short: I recommend them if you don't mind waiting 20 minutes for your order and are comfortable flagging down staff rather than waiting for them to check on you. Also, be prepared for a much more relaxed informal restaurant experience. The food is where they put their time and effort I think. 👍 Longer review: The restaurant is very very relaxed. The staff are lounging on a raised platform with their shoes off as you would likely come across in Afghanistan if at someone's home. So that may be authentic. The staff are polite and not in a rush and won't hurry you to finish or leave either. You will need to let them know if you need something as they don't regularly check on you as I believe they assume you will let them know you need something. The over all atmosphere of the restaurant is that of a hole in the wall restaurant where maybe the food service is more of a side business to their convenience store in the back but they do put good effort in their food. For example, They will serve tea in a foam cup, but it is actual loose leaf brewed tea rather than some cheap bagged variety. I believe they put their quality in their food as the meat, rice, and Naan were tasty and I really enjoyed it. I think the Naan is store bought, but they do toasted it well and it is crisp and warm when served. Check them out if you don't mind a little wait, or perhaps consider ordering ahead.

My family ate here on a Thursday around 1:30 p.m. The wait for our food was about 30 minutes, which told us the meals were being made fresh rather than simply reheated. The wait was worth it—the meat in every dish was well seasoned and flavorful. The service was a little awkward. We ordered drinks and water when we placed our order, but after more than 30 minutes of waiting, our food arrived without them. We had to remind the staff that we had ordered drinks before they were finally brought to the table. We were the only customers dining in the restaurant at the time. Since the food is made fresh and the wait can be a bit longer, I think it would improve the dining experience to offer something small while guests wait, such as complimentary bread or even a simple table game or activity. Overall, the food was enjoyable, and with a few small service improvements, the experience could be even better. Also pretty sure the "chicken" is actually Turkey. The leg was too big to be chicken.

A place I’ve been wanting to try for quite some time. I finally decided to pull the trigger while the family (picky eaters) was off doing something. With that said, I completely forgot we are in the middle of Ramadan until after I had ordered and was about to be served. Everyone was extremely kind and never mentioned a thing about it, but man did I feel bad about not respecting the culture. You guys have my sincerest apology and thanks for your service. The food was delicious. Ordered the kabli palau and garlic naan. The flavors were great. For those that have never had Afghan foods, it definitely borrows on some of the neighboring palates, but has a flavor profile to itself. This is a GREAT place to see what it’s about. Prices are very reasonable considering the portion sizes. Again thank you for the hospitality. I will be back to try some kabob in the future. Many thanks!

Absolutely outstanding! As someone who grew up eating Afghan food, I can honestly say this is some of the best I’ve had in a long time. We ordered the Kabuli Palaw, the chicken & beef combo plates, and the Bolani, and every single dish was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The Kabuli Palaw was delicious with tender, well-seasoned lamb, the chicken was juicy and smoky from the grill, and the beef koobideh was packed with flavor. The Bolani came out hot and crispy with a fresh filling that tasted homemade. The naan was fresh from the oven, the portions were generous, and the service was warm and welcoming. You can really tell they take pride in serving authentic Afghan cuisine. If you’re looking for genuine Afghan food in San Antonio, this place is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back! 🇦🇫

Amazing food, great prices, so many options on drinks and authentic afghan cookies!!! Everything was fresh and the gentlemen who helped us were very kind! Highly recommend!!
