Angel Cakes

5 stars every single time for Angel Cakes! Everything I’ve tried has been incredibly fresh and full of flavor. You can really tell they put care into what they make. On top of that, the staff is always super friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. Such a great local Oakland spot for delicious baked goods and treats. Highly recommend!

I have followed Angel Cakes for years and when I got engaged almost 2 years ago, I knew I wanted my desserts from there. Last summer/ fall? They had their cupcake tasting event which me, my now husband, and sister in law bought tickets for. We were on a mission to find our favorite flavors but it was so hard to choose with almost 40 kinds! After much debate, we landed on maple bacon, guava, and chocolate salted caramel as well as mini brownies and cheesecake bites. They also made our two tiered vintage style heart cake for us to cut into. I felt bad that I had to keep changing our order to include GF/ VE options and then again to add more cupcakes bc our guest count kept going up. They were very friendly and easy to work with even with the multiple changes. My event coordinator also said their delivery was seem less and they very professional and courteous. The cheesecake was the star of the night. I only had one small bite and when I returned to the dessert table, it was the first thing we ran out of! My now husband was sweet enough to buy me my own slice the next day when we returned the cupcake stands 😊 10/10 would recommend to anyone

One of the best cupcake shops I’ve been to. It’s very out of the way, but worth it! The cupcakes are standard baking size and come in a variety of cakes and icings. Worth checking out. But check their hours because they vary. It’s not a sit down place, just a small counter area where the cupcakes are on display. Staff is very friendly and usually very busy.

I wanted to really love Angel Cakes. Especially knowing what happened to the previous owner. And because of their mission and that they are women owned. But I didn’t find it overly welcoming when my daughter and I went to buy cupcakes for her birthday. The woman who was there was not very friendly or interested in helping us. Wide variety of cupcakes, including vegan and gluten-free options. My daughter and I got a half dozen which was slightly cheaper than buying them by the piece. Fairly expensive at over four dollars a cupcake. I really liked the chocolate peanut butter and the lemon cream was decent, although I think it would’ve been helpful to have a lemon cupcake in addition to the lemon cream, my daughter liked all of her cupcakes. She got a funfetti, vanilla bean, and sea salt caramel. I found the cupcakes a little dry but they were nicely decorated. I don’t think that I will return, but will give other cupcake shops in town a try. I will say that if you need vegan or gluten-free cupcakes, this might be a good shop for you to try.

They made my wedding cake and did such an amazing job! Not only was the Chai Spice flavor amazing, but the decorations looked fabulous. Thank you so much to the team at Angel Cakes!!
