Antidote Salon

My sister-in-law randomly stopped into Antidote for an updo for a celebration of the 20th wedding anniversary of her sister and me. Jorge masterfully executed the updo and Elizabeth raved about him and his skills the whole weekend. I went to Jorge for my next haircut, and I've been depending on Jorge to cut my hair ever since. Jorge now knows my hair so well that I think he could cut it blindfolded, and what I like most is that after eight weeks my hair is still holding its style and doesn't look "out of whack".

I got a compliment from a friend passing by not 5 minutes after i left the salon. Instant gratification! Raquel suggested a completely different cut from the one i walked in with. First appointment so i was a bit nervous. She left it up to me and would have followed the same line if I wasn’t up for a big change. I felt she was really experienced and most importantly- she listened. I love the cut. I’ll be back

I usually go to this salon with Laci, and I’ve loved her but she isn’t there anymore I guess so Jorge did my haircut. We talked about 4 inches and he showed me where on my body it would lay and I said sure, b it when he began cutting he cut off way more and it ended up being much much shorter than I expected. It feels like he messed up or something and had to fix it. I am so sad with how short my hair is now. I’m freshly post partum, and I know my hair is falling out and he said bc I’m pp my hair is not as good quality so he cut it. However I feel so uncomfortable and not like myself after this cut. It felt fine when I left the salon bc he styled it all nice but now the next day I am horrified with how it looks. I wish he would have asked me before cutting it shorter than we had discussed, that’s my only issue.

I would not recommend this place for a kids cut for smaller kids. I don’t understand why put the service of a kids cut in your list of services if you don’t know how to deal with kids, but my experience felt like that. I brought my daughter here mostly because we needed a haircut and this place had openings on my day off. Jorge seemed very uncomfortable, even though my daughter (3,5 y.o.) was very quiet and tried her best to sit still. He made no effort to make her feel more comfortable, did not talk to her, or even smile once at her, and didn’t even introduce himself to her until I did it; he kept complaining she wasn’t sitting completely still, and also the whole time kept mocking the tv show I put on for her on my phone (Meekah and Ms Rachel), saying things like “this is so terrible, why are we doing this to our kids, Meekah you deserve 1 star hahaha, etc” The cut itself was good, and quick; we were there a total of 25 min. Afterwards I felt pressured to give a high tip, because they have it preselected and the person is hovering in front of you while you check out. IMO, this is a bad practice in general. Based on my experience with this type of service, I will not be back.
