BAM | blowouts and makeup - Dallas - Uptown West Village

I came here to get my curly hair blow dried, but unfortunately the person that did my hair did not know how to style curly hair and I was disappointed with the final result. She did not even seem to know the proper way to untangle curly hair. My hair ended up super poofy and the roots were not straight at all. My curls are not that tight and my hair is very healthy — I’ve gotten my hair blow dried many times before and have gotten very smooth and nice results, however that was not the case here. I will say that when I told the person that was checking me out that I did not love the results she was super understanding and insisted on letting her fix it, which I did. The results were better, but still not great. She was super nice and assured me they had other stylists that I could book with that knew how to style curly hair. However, If that was the case I feel like they should’ve appointed me one of those stylists to begin with since I booked for their more expensive “extended time” blowout and left a comment stating I had curly hair. I don’t think I’ll be giving them a second chance or recommend it to those with curly hair. Giving 3 stars because the girls were super nice and the salon is beautiful, but I would give the blowout itself 1 star. Below is a photo of my curl pattern for reference.

The place is nice, and the stylist was very friendly; however, this was the worst blowout I’ve ever gotten. To start, no heat protectant was applied. Throughout the process, the stylist sectioned my hair, but around the halfway point, the top section wasn’t blow-dried, which made my hair look awful. She asked if I wanted her to style it, and I said yes. After styling, it looked much better because she fixed it with a curling iron, but at no point was heat protectant applied. On top of that, my hair felt extremely dry and straw-like. In comparison to other times I’ve gotten a blowout, my hair always feels nice and soft afterward. The service wasn’t worth the ridiculous price I paid—over $120 including a 20% tip. The stylist was nice and had good customer service, but the hair service itself was simply not great.

I got my hair done for my friend's wedding this weekend and Melanie and Viv were absolutely wonderful. Viv did such a beautiful job on my make up, it was complimented all night long. Melanie took what I wanted for my hair and made it better than thought it could be. Easily my best experience getting my hair done.

I have been going to BAM uptown for about 3 years now… MANY MANY MANY TIMES. I previously left a very positive review but after today I am now RETRACTING my positive review. The front desk person (who is new) is EXTREMELY rude/ reprimanded me because I didn’t select “extra time for extensions” because THEIR system was broken. She spoke to me like I was 12 years old. The front desk needs to be fired immediately. I would love for the real manager to contact me. I won’t be returning to this location— ft worth and Plano legacy west are great! Update and despite their response. STILLL no text/phone call/ no an email response (I email them too)! Don’t you love when businesses straight lie? 😂
