Be Hair Salon

Bertha is the best ever. I've been going to Be Hair Salon for the past 2.5 years, and I have never gotten so many compliments on my hair in my life—I've had people stop me in the hallway just to say how much they like my hair! I have naturally wavy hair, and Bertha always knows exactly what to do with it. When I was living in LA last year, I would make an appointment at Be Hair every time I was back in the Bay (I trekked all the way from Palo Alto once because Bertha cuts my hair better than any of the hairdressers I've been to in LA). Bertha's haircuts legitimately increase my confidence, and she has a natural eye for style and the way hair should fall. Plus, she is kind, funny, and empathetic—I truly cannot recommend Bertha enough.

angeles was very sweet, but started cutting my bangs after seeing a few reference photos with varying lengths in the front, and by the time she asked me "you wanted these to be baby bangs, right?" the damage had been done. i should've spoken up sooner, but there really was no going back after she started cutting. it started to look good on the side she began on, which gave me hope, but she cut it so unevenly from one side to the other that it just doesn't look cohesive. i wanted to bring it up at the end of the cut, but she had delayed my appointment by half an hour before we had started, and took even longer to finish up with her previous customer, delaying it by ~45 minutes to an hour overall. her next customer waiting in the chair for her for the last half hour of the appointment, and i didn't want to make a scene or say anything in front of him for decorums sake. attached is the reference i sent to her phone while still in the salon, before she started cutting, and a photo of the aftermath taken in the salon bathroom. i frankly feel like i look like boris karloff's frankenstein.

I went to Be hair studio in hopes to get to my natural hair color of a light brown/ dirty blond. I have a bit past shoulder length, thick, 3b hair, and i have bleached and box dyed my hair prior to this appointment. The last time i colored my hair was a year ago with box dye and the color turned out to be too dark and uneven so i scheduled for a color correction. I got a consultation and a test strand done of bleach with Bertha to make sure my hair wouldn't react with it. I feel like I made my end goal pretty clear of having an even light brown color like my roots. The salon had good service and the staff were kind and professional but I'm sad to say i was very disappointed with the results. Instead of a light brown i got a very yellow blond with random highlights of platinum and all over uneven color.

My first time at this salon, and my impressions are great! Clean and bright, with a relaxed vibe and friendly atmosphere. They have a selection of products, and I got some great advice on styling. I’ll definitely be back.
