Big Boss Banh Mi

My friend and I came here on a Wednesday afternoon and there was nobody inside the restaurant besides us. The interior is a little narrow but there’s a decent number of seating available and the Halloween decorations were so cute! We ordered from the Kiosk and got the following: Grilled Pork Banh Mi Old School Bahn Mi I love how the bahn mi’s come with chicken pho soup and rainbow chips! It took around 15 minutes for the food to be ready and we took it back home to eat. I enjoyed my grilled pork banh mi! The meat was a little too salty for me but the flavor overall was decent. I enjoyed the chicken pho soup and the rainbow chips were satisfying. My friend got the old school banh mi and said it was good but nothing extraordinary. Overall, this is a good spot for some banh mi if you’re in the area and want some side dishes to complete the meal. Looking forward to trying other items on the menu when I come back next time.

While searching for a new bánh mì spot to try, we came across this restaurant. The name caught our attention, and it’s conveniently located next to our favorite Japanese store, so we decided to give it a try. The space itself is small and cozy, but unfortunately, the first thing we noticed upon entering was a lack of cleanliness and upkeep. There was visible food debris on the floors and tables. We were greeted promptly at the counter, which we appreciated, and we could hear the kitchen staff confirming our order, which was reassuring. We chose to give the place the benefit of the doubt, assuming they may have just come off a rush. After sitting down, we noticed our table was stained. I went to ask for a napkin and some cleaner to wipe it down and was told the table was about to be sanitized. However, what followed was concerning. An employee retrieved a visibly used towel from the floor area behind a broom/vacuum (picture for clarity), sprayed it with cleaner, and mentioned the bottle was nearly empty. That same cloth was then used to wipe our table and two others before being placed back on the floor in the same spot. This raised serious sanitation concerns. For context, we have both worked in the food and service industry and have been responsible for cleaning and sanitizing tables ourselves. We’re not trying to be rude or overly critical—just objective based on industry standards and our own experience. Which is why I didn’t mind asking for a towel and spray to clean it up myself. To feel more comfortable, I went to the restroom, grabbed paper towels, and cleaned the table myself using soap and water before drying it. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and the Toro drink, side of pho chicken soup (a little watered down in our opinion), Vietnamese egg rolls, and bánh mì (picture added too) where good. Unfortunately, despite enjoying the food, it was difficult to fully relax and enjoy the meal due to the cleanliness issues. With better attention to sanitation and upkeep, this place could be a great spot, but the atmosphere ultimately took away from the overall experience.

This passion fruit smoothie is delightful and I can’t wait to get home and enjoy the rice box (grilled pork) which includes chicken pho or rainbow chips & Vietamese egg roll !! Next time when in the Alief / Dairy Ashford area please do yourself a favor and give them a visit.

Where else can you get a delicious lunch including a soda for 10 bucks? The sandwich was huge and the side of soup was so flavorful. The counter service was prompt/efficient and kind. If you’re debating whether or not you should stop by, this is it. You can take a little stroll down the shopping center after your lunch and even stop in at the Japanese grocer right down the way for a sweet treat!

absolutely loved the Old School banh mi and my partner loved the Fried Egg banh mi! The attendants are polite, and the space is real cozy and communal. Will definitely be coming back!
