I've been a customer of Bishop's for decades, since they had a single location in Portland, OR. It used to always be a place for an inexpensive, yet competent haircut. I had the weirdest experience there 2 days ago. I made an appointment online and went in later that afternoon. From the first interaction with the stylist, I could tell that something wasn't quite right. I could tell early on that she did not know what she was doing. I have wavy/curly hair, which does take a certain skill set, but I have never encountered a stylist that didn't know the first thing about how to approach it. I didn't want to be rude so I let her carry on and hoped for the best. I left there looking like I had taken a bath with a toaster, not the soft, defined curls I get after a professional haircut and style. I looked around for a stylists' license and did not see one, although they are usually displayed in sight. Fortunately, curly hair is forgiving and I washed and restyled it as soon as I got home and the cut is okay. But Bishop's is not the inexpensive option it used to be - it is in the price range I would expect from a higher end salon, but without the quality. For $100, I would expect better. I won't be going back.

I was so jazzed to hear that America was back at a bishops location! She was who I started playing with hair dye with back in 2022, and it's been an absolute blast. We're staying closer to my natural color this round, but we've taken it all over in the auburn/plum sphere over the years. I've been having a health flare that makes detangling a bit trickier, so in addition to the color we did a keratin treatment and it's going great. I have absolute trust in her instincts at this point, we've done everything from maintenance trims on an undercut, to thinning things out, to impatient bobs growing OUT said undercut, and now my hair is longer than it was when she met me, which is fun. Management was lovely and made sure that I felt comfortable. This location is wheelchair accessible and transferring to the shampoo chair is a breeze with a transfer board.

Dang, my hair looks hecka good. 💁🏻‍♀️😎 I wonder who did it? 🤔🤷🏻‍♀️ Ah, of course, it was… 🥁🥁 None other than the… 🥁🥁 Amazing stylist named Diana ✨⭐️🙌🏻 I have been going here for around 1-2 years now for my long cuts/bang trims and have always been satisfied. Diana is typically the stylist I go to and she is fantastic (as evidenced from the acrostic poem above). One would not regret choosing to have a hair experience with them if they are looking for a skilled, attentive, and kind hairstylist.

Diana completely transformed my hair over the last 6 months! Got two long cuts, which basically included a quick wash, quick blowout + style, and a *ton* of advice for how to take care of my new hair for ONLY $60 EACH (not incl. tip)!!! Frankly, she should be charging more. From everything I can tell Diana does an excellent job with mid-length shag cuts and bangs of all kinds (among many other styles). Extremely friendly and communicative; even when I was indecisive we figured it out. Bishops is very queer- friendly and understanding. I've never been happier (and more euphoric) with my hair.
