CDC Beauty Supply(vista)

TERRIBLE was told to leave the store today after being in for about 5 minutes max only around the front desk visible of the cashier . Gave no reason to have suspicions but was told I was being kicked out because of said picture they had of me . Mind you I have not been in this store since last fall . Very rude Hispanic man I believe he is a new worker because others have always been super nice and helpful . The picture he showed me as “proof “ was a girl with similar complexion and hair color but you could barely see her face as it was positioned downward! Also I am a teenager and the woman looked pregnant and way older than me when I pointed that out he said “well it’s an old photo”.

Wish I could give this place a 0 star. I had been coming to this place for years yesterday I got racially profiled and accused of stealing. I will never spend another dime in this place.

I’m redoing my review after 5 years of shopping at this beauty supply store. I had never encountered any issues, always felt welcomed and was never racially profiled until July 2025. The owner, presumably, a short older Asian woman was clearly profiling me and it was disgusting behavior. Maybe she should stay home. There were two other women in the store, one at the counter she was helping, Black girl and one Latina in the same aisle near me, near the brushes which happens to be 100 feet from the counter. So the Asian lady kept peeking over her pixie glass just like staring at me even though she was helping the Black girl. She said can I help you and I ignored that. When she was done with that girl like a few minutes later she came into the aisle asking me AGAIN if I needed help I told her, “I don’t need your help.” I was starting to get agitated. She went back behind the counter and kept staring at me and I started expressing my frustration and said out loud, “If you keep this behavior up I will not come back to this store.” Well 5 minutes later she came from that counter and asked AGAIN if she could help me. No. I want White and Asian ppl to understand that the phrase , “Can I help you” is a trigger for African Americans it comes laden with historical racism. It’s a phrase that was used often in the Jim Cow era against Blacks not welcome in White spaces. Really what, “How can I help you” means is what are you really up to, I don’t trust you, are you going to steal and your Blackness makes me uncomfortable. Unfortunately after 5 years I will not be back nor supporting any Asian owned business. I’ve always been an avid supporter of Black owned businesses but there’s not any Black Owned Beauty stores in Oceanside however I will make the trip to the OC and LA County to support those Black owned businesses. 🙏

We had such a lovely experience! It was my first time using colour remover and Damien very kindly walked me through product recommendations and next steps. We'll definitely be back!
