Dr. Peter T. Nguyen, DO

If I could give a 0 stars I would. I seen this man for a year. Allergies, acid reflux and cough. Every time I had an appt. He added another med to my list. I had nose drops then pills then throat spray! Then everything affected my voice. Lost my voice every other day. Couldn’t function. I called him. He told me rinse my mouth out every time I spray in my mouth. Didn’t work. He sent me to get thyroid test. Ok he says your thyroid is so inlarged we need to take it out. It’s leaning against my vocal cords! I figured that is major. I went to the best of the best specials in UCI MEDICAL CENTER not one doctor but two doctors checked out my throat and thyroids. Came back in the room about and hour later. Two doctors stepped in. I was thinking bad news! They looked at me and said…….your thyroid is not enlarged. Maybe slightly. It is not leaning against any vocal cords. Even if it was enlarged, we don’t take out thyroids at your age!! I was 73 at the time…… well I felt so good and I went back to his office in person to let him know I do not want the surgery. Then he replied, well then we should take out your sinus. I said why? He said he noticed one nostril is smaller than the other and in time you will have a hard time breathing!!! I never went back to him again. He should not be practicing.

Short Version: Dr. Peter T. Nguyen, ENT, DO Fountain Valley, CA Deserves a "ZERO"! Do NOT Recommend = absolute WORST ‘doctor’ experience ever! ... For those interested ~ Detailed Version: saw him for another opinion / assessment of potential surgery for blown ear drum & following healing (was excruciatingly painful /resulted in 30% reduction of hearing) ... 1) Dr. Peter T. Nguyen did NOT listen nor interested in anything expressed as important re: my condition, tests to date, other doctor assessments & recommendations, asking questions, having researched on my own (former professional medical researcher) or having any knowledge whatsoever; Rude ... interrupted me several times when speaking so I asked him not to interrupt me as did not interrupt him. ... 2) Dr. Peter T. Nguyen in my opinion based upon my experience has severe capital ~ Attitude ~problem ... literally reprimanded using sharp tone pointing at me (seriously) challenging me (like to a duel) and said "I wear a tie! See this tie? I know more than ~ any ~ other doctor you've seen ~ none of them know what they are talking about!" ... ??? A tie? Really? Since when? I'm sure the specialists (at well known major hospital) with years of experience would appreciate hearing that. ... 3) And after Dr. Peter T. Nguyen checked out my ear drum and commented on the excellent healing … because I mentioned I attributed the healing to taking 'natural' non-drug antibiotics instead of pharmaceuticals that wipe out the natural immune system in the gut & have negative toxic and harmful effects to vital organs and rather experienced what the Dr. who tested my ear said was "Amazing healing! Good Job ... keep it up." (same Dr. / hearing specialist who had tested both my ears several years prior to the blown ear drum) ~ Dr. Peter T. Nguyen in his infinite wisdom told me he “doubts (I) ever even had a blown ear drum ...(what? / why?)… because no one ever heals that well without antibiotics!” ... Well, I sure did ~ without any drugs! So despite all documentation, the agony I suffered, the ER doctors, ENT Specialists (like him), verified tests, Dr. Peter T. Nguyen determined and told me ALL was meaningless!!! ... must have NEVER happened … really? That’s his response? Yes, that’s how he responded with a most egregious personal insult in addition to insulting the doctors I’d seen with verified test results. ... Wow! How educated is he to be in such denial about alternatives that are effective and have been around longer than pharmaceuticals? Not in touch with reality? If I cut my arm, have a scar and Dr. Peter T. Nguyen were to look at it and say it never happened … does his saying so change what happened? How about I look at him and tell him he never got his medical degree and isn’t an ENT DO? Would that change anything? ... Hello ~ Reality Check! ... What a disappointing reflection of Dr. Peter T. Nguyen’s distorted / inflated ego, tunnel vision and closed mind that he would attempt to negate what I experienced as if it never happened and insult the other doctors & verified test results. ...Red Flag Alert! I wonder how his lack of being open minded to explore / evaluate options would affect his judgement in an emergency during surgery? ... I'm glad I discovered Dr. Peter T. Nguyen's true nature prior to considering and consenting to his surgical service (would never want to be on his surgery table!). ... Take good care of your health & those you love. Best Wishes.

Rude Dr., condescending, acted like it was an imposition to speak to him. No thanks! Took my business elsewhere to a better 5 Star Dr. who actually cares about a patient, will listen and values the appointment. Should have read Dr. Nguyen's bad reviews first & would have saved myself the negative experience, waste of time.

Absolutely terrific doctor. Never upsells anything, doesn’t send you for unnecessary tests. His ability is undoubted. OK some people might not like his direct approach but I say to those guys ‘man up’ you are being attended to by a doctor at the top of his field!! Fabulous job with my ear tubes.

2nd opinion with this doctor; not impressed on several levels. My preference is a doctor top in his field ~ and ~ treats patients with respect, civility and answers relevant questions. Why would anyone put up with less? I agree - too many other well qualified, experienced ENT's to choose from. Glad he is not my primary physician - what a nightmare to deal with.
