Excellent Hair Salon

I recently visited this salon and Kelly took care of me. I showed her a clear reference photo for a soft layered haircut and light brown looking color. Unfortunately, the result didn’t meet my expectations. The hair color turned out significantly darker (black) than what I had asked for, and it lacked the dimension and lighter tones shown in the reference. I had specifically mentioned wanting a softer, lighter brown look. The haircut was okay not worth $120. felt quite basic. I’m sharing this feedback so future clients can have clearer consultations. I should have waited till June for Kim’s appointment. It is my son’s birthday tomorrow and being a first time mom I thought of going with kelly hoping that I will receive the look I want. Imagine already leaving your baby behind feeling guilt and returning with regret. Im genuinely disappointed with the color. Sharing my desire color tone vs what I got.

I’m new to this salon and seeing Kim ( < 1 year ) but the whole experience has been nothing but wonderful. My Southern California friends rave about her and they are correct. She’s honest, kind and does amazing work. I was nervous about inquiring with her rates but considering her experience and quality honestly she charges a really reasonable price. I can absolutely go to a cheaper place or a more expensive place but it doesn’t mean I will love my hair coloring. I have the stubborn Asian hair that pull towards orange/brass when lightened improperly. Her blonde holds up extremely well. Yes it will get a little dull without toning in between as needed however it doesn’t leave me with any funk after several months untouched which is what I look for when trying someone new. She has an array of products you can purchase for aftercare in the salon but isn’t pushy about you purchasing it there. Overall happy with the experience and will try to keep her as my colorist for a while to make things easier when coloring.

Kim and the staff are amazing here! I now only come to Kim for my hair needs. She makes me feel like a whole new person after each session. Kim is super talented and has a keen eye for what works for your look. I can completely let her take control and get the look I adore. You definitely want to book in advance because they book up fast. I’m so glad they are open with limited capacity and taking great measure such as taking temperature checks before entering, make you sign a waiver, only 2-3 customers at a time, everyone wearing masks, sanitizing the seats and equipments after each customer, plastic dividers, socially distanced, etc.

I recently visited Excellent Salon in Newark, California, for a hair color correction, and unfortunately, my experience was far from excellent. My appointment was scheduled for 9 AM, and while I was attended to promptly as the first customer of the day, things quickly took a turn for the worse. Initially, there were two ladies helping me, but after an hour, one of them left to assist a new customer who had just walked in. Over the next hour, the remaining stylist began multitasking, answering phone calls, and not focusing on my hair. This lack of attention continued throughout the entire process. With my hair already in the process of being dyed, she informed me that the color was not lifting yet and that I would have to wait. She then proceeded to assist another new customer, leaving me unattended for about 30 minutes. This pattern of neglect continued, with her running back and forth between me and other customers. Despite originally quoting me an 8-hour appointment, the entire process ended up taking almost 14 hours because of her constant distractions and failure to focus on my hair. By the end of the day, I was exhausted and frustrated, being the first customer in and the last one out. To make matters worse, my hair was extremely dried out and damaged the next morning, and the color did not turn out as expected or as she had promised. The stylist texted me the next morning to apologize for rushing me out and admitted that she was not happy with the outcome of my hair. She offered to make it better with a new appointment, but the damage is already done, and I am not willing to spend another whole day there. To top it all off, the service cost me almost $700, which makes this experience even more unacceptable. Overall, my experience at Excellent Salon was disappointing. The lack of focus and care from the stylist resulted in a prolonged and damaging experience, and I am left with hair that is far from what I was promised.
