Friendship Kitchen NW Thurman

Yall are SLEEPING on this place! Holy smokes this place slaps so hard. MJ makes the best cocktails with cool flavors like Pandan and the chef is killing it with the skewers and wings. Will definitely be back regularly.

⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ 4/5 We stopped in on a Sunday for lunch and overall had a very enjoyable experience. The restaurant has a warm, inviting atmosphere with beautiful lighting and a unique personality that makes it stand out from many other Vietnamese restaurants. The chef and bartender were both incredibly sweet and welcoming, which helped make the visit memorable. We started with the beef carpaccio, which was easily one of the highlights of the meal. The beef was tender and flavorful, while the fresh herbs, onions, and crispy garlic created a wonderful balance of textures and flavors. The presentation was beautiful, and it was clear that thought and care went into the dish. We also ordered the shaking beef, which was cooked well and packed with flavor. The beef was tender, the vegetables were fresh, and the sauce paired nicely with the rice. The cocktails were balanced, refreshing, and enjoyable as well. There were a few areas where improvements could be made. Service was quite slow during our visit. It was a Sunday afternoon, and there were only two takeout orders ahead of us, so we expected the food to arrive a little faster. The menu itself could also use some attention. Several pages were torn, wrinkled, and showing their age, which took away from an otherwise charming dining experience. One of our cocktails was also missing the lime wheel garnish listed on the menu. While not a major issue, details like this contribute to presentation and help create a more polished experience. Overall, we enjoyed our visit. The beef carpaccio and shaking beef were both very good, the cocktails were enjoyable, and the chef and bartender made us feel genuinely welcome. With a little more attention to service timing, menu upkeep, and consistency in drink presentation, this restaurant could easily earn five stars. We look forward to returning and seeing how it continues to grow.

Eric in NW is great! And, I love the food at this Queer Woman owned restaurant! My fav bahn mi in Portland!

I have been searching high and low for good laksa in the Portland area. I am picky about this particular soup. The options are limited and I have not been impressed with what I’ve found - until today. Friendship Kitchen absolutely nailed it. Delicious, bursting with flavor, just the right amount of funky sweet/spicy/umami. Great, welcoming service too. I’ll be returning!

I found this place on an Eater list, “The Hottest New Restaurants in Portland, March 2024”. Everything we ordered from the Egg rolls, Shaken Beef to the Singapore Chicken Rice were so good! I would definitely come back. I also ordered a …
