Gao is an all-around spot that never disappoints in taste or service, which is why I’ve returned with my family countless times. We’ve definitely become regulars! Such a great authentic Vietnamese spot for families and casual dining. My go-to is always the Grilled Beef Chop (Rib Cutlet) rice dish. Their house sauce is on the saltier side, but poured over the rice, it balances out perfectly. Oh, and I absolutely love the Vietnamese iced coffee here! And the portions? They do not play. Generous every single time. The service is what really sets Gao apart. The two gentlemen at the front are always so attentive and friendly. On my last visit, one of them remembered that I wasn’t a fan of the steamed egg and pork meatloaf from a previous visit. I never mentioned it or asked for anything, he just remembered my reaction and offered to substitute it with an egg. . Such a small gesture, but it says a lot. Great food, thoughtful service, and a place I’ll keep coming back to! 10/10!!!

Good Vietnamese food, really authentic - my mom loves coming here! The menu is big enough focusing on noodles, rice and soup. The jasmine tea they give with the meal was nice. Also got the soursop smoothie and that was tasty! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for good Vietnamese food, like mom makes :)

We had a wonderful lunch at Gao today. The shrimp salad was excellent, featuring very fresh shrimp and crunchy Vietnamese celery, served with crispy prawn crackers and authentic Vietnamese fish sauce. The broken rice with grilled pork and steamed pork loaf was delicious, and we especially appreciated that they used traditional broken rice, just like in Vietnam. The bun mam nem was outstanding, full of authentic flavor. The beef pho was also delicious, and we loved that it was made with fresh pho noodles, which gave the dish a great texture and taste. The restaurant has a warm and cozy atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. We had a perfect lunch experience and would gladly return.

First time having Vietnamese food in Tampa. This is a small place with about 10 tables. We didnt' know what to expect other than all the google reviews. We have had plenty of vietnamese food in NYC, but the food at Gao easily beat those in NY. The service was very attentive with great recommendation from the wait staff.

The service was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. The gentlemen working this evening took the time to walk us through the menu, explain the dishes, help us choose our meals, and even offered taste tests, which made the experience both comfortable and enjoyable. The food was amazing—everything tasted incredibly fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. You can truly tell that care goes into every dish. The restaurant itself was spotless. Cleanliness was easily five stars, which made us feel even more confident and relaxed while dining. We will absolutely be coming back and will be recommending this place to all of our friends.
