Our local Rite Aid closed and the KP Mail-Order pharmacy has been amazing! Very easy to order my prescriptions online and I get notifications quickly about my Rx status. Highly recommend!
If you are a Kaiser member, the Kaiser Permanente mail order pharmacy is a great option if you need to fill a prescription. Given that the same Kaiser website is used for doctor visits and prescriptions, this makes for an easy way to request a refill from your doctor and have it easily filled by a pharmacy at the same time. An added plus is that your prescription is mailed directly to you via USPS, so you don't need to go to a Kaiser pharmacy location to pick it up. Once a prescription is requested by your doctor, you can request a prescription be filled as you need it. The site will show you how many refills you have. Payment is also done via the website, so it has already accounted for how much Kaiser will pay and how much you would owe for the prescription. Once payment has been made and the prescription ships, you will get a notification with a tracking number. Based on the ease of ordering prescriptions and convenience of receiving them in the mail, I would recommend this pharmacy if you are a Kaiser member.
Kaiser mail order pharmacy has been a nightmare. I'm a transplant patients who takes many immuno-suppressant and anti-rejection meds. I try to allow 7 to 10 days for reorder but the pharmacist won't allow me to reorder until the day I run out. They insist it only takes 2days to arrive by mail. It usually takes 3 to 5 days so I go without my life sustaining medication until it arrives. This has compromised my health. Maybe Kaiser can offer transplant patients a tech/pharmacist line who are trained and familiar with how transplant patient meds can change in dose two to three times a week for the rest of our lives according to our blood work.
I have never dealt with so many problems with a pharmacy. Kaiser Permanente forced its customers to use only Kaiser Permanente pharmacies, which is ridiculous by itself. But since the closest KP pharmacy to me is over an hour away from where I live, I have been forced to use this mail order pharmacy this year. Not only were some of my medications significantly more expensive through this pharmacy, on more than one occasion I have had to transfer prescriptions to my local Walgreens (and pay out of pocket since Kaiser won’t cover costs of medications at any other pharmacy) just to get my medications on time due to the pharmacy either making an error or not being able to ship the medication to me quickly enough via the mail. I have had more problems with this pharmacy than I can count.
Too inconsistent to be reliable. When I order a refill, it sometimes is shipped out quickly, arriving in 2-3 days, but other times it takes well over a week to even be shipped, coming to the house in about 10 days, which is totally unacceptable and has resulted in medication gaps. Would not recommend, go to an in-person Kaiser pharmacy.
