Kevin Growney, DDS, PC

I've been a patient of Dr Growney's for years and his service is top notch. Before Growney, I had tried a few other dentists but never felt confident in either the service or the pricing. My previous dentist was hot-to-trot about replacing a cavity filling immediately, but Growney was honest and said it could wait. Two years later, Growney let me know that it was now indeed time to replace the aforementioned filling. I was pretty nervous about the needle and drill but Growney was super skilled and I didnt feel a thing; no discomfort or anxiety whatsoever. Honest feedback, superb bedside manner, and competitive pricing. Go see Growney :)

Dr. Growney is a very experienced doctor so does his dental hygienists. However, the front desk girl is not welcome and one of two girls make you feel she hates life. The customer services need an improvement. Overall, with my dental care it’s a 3.5 star service so far.

It pains me to write a negative review because I've enjoyed my experiences being treated by Dr. Growney over several years. In fairness to him, I generally found him pleasant, highly capable, and reasonable over a long period of time. The nature of my negative experience is a) questionable billing practices and b) vitriolic treatment from his staff member. Years ago, I noticed that my billing rates went up substantially and I asked Dr. Growney about it, who said that the difference was because I went from being insured to uninsured, but that he would be happy to charge me the same rates as contracted with insurance. That persisted for a while until I realized that it happened again and I thought it was merely a mistake. When I inquired about it, Dr. Growney denied that he intended that policy to continue. While feasible that he would remember a short conversation similar to many he must have that occurred years ago, it seems unlikely that he would remember that specific conversation, whereas I am sure of what transpired since it is the only conversation I've had of the kind. In the end, he was unwilling to uphold the basic premise under which I was seeing him. The reason I feel so mistreated is that I find it unethical to charge uninsured people higher prices than insured people. The gross price is intentionally inflated so that it can be written off with insurance and so to stick uninsured patients with that price feels like a practice I cannot support. I don't begrudge Doctors charging a high price and not accepting insurance, if that's what they choose to do, but taking from both pots has many adverse consequences. This is often how people end up in difficult financial positions if they cannot afford insurance. It also unfairly punishes someone's individual choice to avoid working with insurance. Finally, in the process, dealing with his staff member was extremely unpleasant. Her command of facts was poor, which didn't diminish her certainty around them. She was also quick to lob accusations and insults.

Best dentist I've ever had. Also, he very kindled helped my elderly father with a dental issue. My dad was a little confused and needed a simplified explanation. Dr. Growney and the team are so caring and patient with their clients. Thanks1
