Đăng nhập để đánh giáThis place is absolutely incredible! We stopped by while visiting San Francisco from LA, and WOW ~!! the price, quality, and portion sizes are unmatched. The pork katsu is massive and impressively thick, cooked to absolute perfection. Even the sides salad, rice, and macaroni are incredibly generous. I also love that you get two different dipping sauces (regular and spicy) to mix things up. Highly recommended!
We came here after a long day of exploring the beach, and our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs. The portions are HUGE. Honestly, one plate could easily be split between two people, but we each got our own and ended up with way more food than we could finish — we took some home. They offer different sauces for the curry: the spicy one actually brings real heat, plus there’s a regular curry sauce and a barbecue-style sauce. I went with the King’s Plate, and the tartar sauce with the fish was the standout for me — thought it was the best thing on the plate. The katsu curry was massive, though I think the chicken itself could’ve used a little more seasoning. The fried chicken (the butter chicken) was really good, though. Overall, definitely worth checking out. Just come hungry — or plan on sharing.
After seeing all the good reviews, we decided to go to King Katsu Land. Starting from waiting in line through inputting our name in their system and we found that five parties in front of us so we had to wait, not a big deal right? The wait took over 30 minutes. You can see once inside that this restaurant is not particularly big and the decoration was basic. There were vents that were non-functioning that hangs on top of each table which suggested that this spot may be an old Korean BBQ joint at one point. We were pretty hungry and throughout the meal, despite us attempting to flag them down multiple times for service, it was pretty apparent that the staffs were not adequately trained to accommodate a full restaurant with 4 staffs. We ordered: King's Combo (Pork Katsu, Fish Katsu, Hamburger steak) - 3 out of 5 I asked for regular and spicy sauce. I got only the regular sauce, not sure why. The sauce itself was real sweet I'm guessing a mix of a little curry and a lot of American bbq sauce? All this sauce kinda made the pork katsu tasted mediocre which I was disappointed. Next to the pork katsu came the fish katsu. It was a simple fried fish paired with tartar sauce and the hamburger steak you get a sunny sided egg on top of your meat. The cabbage, macaroni salad and rice came on the side of the plate. The main issue for me was the katsu sauce for the pork katsu. It killed this dish for me. It was the main protein for this dish and it just didn't deliver. The sauce was too strong and it overshadowed the flavor of the katsu itself. Half & half chicken (Original & Yang-Nyeom) - 3 out of 5 The chicken came were made from chicken seemingly from the breast area. They were extremely dry and to my wife's surprise, they were not wings or thighs. For me personally, I'm not a fan of chicken breast in general, I just didn't like it. If you like Korean styled fried chicken, you may want to give this one a pass. Extra Fried Rice - 4 out of 5 This was a side dish that we wanted just to give ourselves some more carbs. They tasted typical and were fine but nothing too special. Rice Punch Slush (Sikhye) - 3 out of 5 I was curious as to the taste so we ordered one. Let's just say that if you're not a big fan of rice drinks in general, give this one a pass. Personally if you ask me for what it taste like I would say it's similar to rice wine but without the wine and add sugar to it. Service - 3 out of 5 We had a hard time trying to get a waiter/waitress to help us consistently for basic items like napkins and water. I had to personally go up one or two times. I think they definitely need to train their staffs more to accommodate the busy traffic inside the restaurant. As you can probably see from my experience that I'm not a huge fan after eating at King Katsu Land. Having had katsus for some time with the most recent one at Katsu factory I would say that Katsu factory from Satomi does a better job with a variety of dressing/seasonings. This turned a big katsu into various flavors for everyone. I think King Katsu Land offers a lot of food people love on paper but the effort to implement these dishes can be improved including their handling of customers from their staff. Would I come back? Probably not.
This katsu is for kings! Great service on arrival and I ordered promptly. The dish was perfect and I particularly enjoyed the tray of pickled veggies. Complemented the meal well. The little miso soup was a nice touch as well. The curry was nice texture and I liked the spice. Bring your appetite for the king size, this could easily be two meals. I finished off the meal with a Korean ice cream. Really cool they have this option in the fridge!
Excellent katsu with absolutely wild portions. We had the combo which had chicken, fish and hamburg steak. The chicken katsu we had was the star (tender and juicy), but fish katsu was great and the Hamburg was nice. The breading is very light and not too heavy. The combo easily fed two hungry adults with leftovers. The sauce is nice and is given in a huge boat. Service was friendly and the restaurant was clean and a bit spartan. I’m sure to come back when I’m in the area to try the tonkatsu and curry sauce.
