Komart Marketplace

Great prices, great products, fresh vegetaibles. I have been coming here for 13 years. My wife prefers it to the new H-Mart. We also love the food court here. Go now and buy some gimbap.

Yesterday I bought a ribbonfish that was weighed and labeled at 2.045 lb. After having it cut into pieces and bringing it home, I found it looked like less, so I weighed it on a kitchen scale and found it 28% less than the labeled weight! What disappointed me most is that this is not the first time happened after having fish cut at the seafood counter. To be fair, the manager, Robbie, was polite and offered a refund or exchange if I bring it back today or tomorrow. I appreciate his professionalism, but it’s not worth my time to drive 50 minutes one way to get just several dollars refund. However, customers should double-check their seafood orders, especially when fish is cut into pieces.

Googled Korean market in Irving but actually Komart Marketplace is in Dallas. They close at 10pm. The place is primarily a cluster of Korean shops, a Barber Shop, Fried Chicken place, Vietnamese Noodle Restaurant and a busy Korean grocery store with a nice informal restaurant inside. If you like to eat Inside the grocery market, you just look at the menu on the wall, with pictures, price, and number. You go to cashier #5, which is the first one closest to the end of the restaurant beside the Restroom. Just tell the cashier the number of the food you like and after you pay, show the receipt to the restaurant worker and they will make your dish. Just sit down on your table and they will call you when your food is ready for pickup. The food is freshly made with fresh ingredients, delicious and authentic. Don't forget to get your drinks in the grocery before you pay for your meal. I also went back yesterday to buy some fresh or frozen fish but i could not find any. There were plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, dried noodles, coffee, tea, bottled drinks and other snacks. However, no seafood. Update 25Nov2023 I went there before they closed on Thanksgiving Day and their sushi were 50% off. That means they make them fresh everyday.

It’s a Thursday night and Komart closes at 10 pm. I was here at 9:40 pm knowing they close at 10 pm. The Hispanic gentleman that works here was telling me while I was doing my shopping, “We’re closed.” I responded by saying, “No, you close at 10 pm.” When I was checking out he was bagging my items and I showed him the time on my phone and it was 9:50 pm. I again told him, “You close at 10 pm.” The elderly Korean lady has never once said hello to me nor has she ever smiled, said hello, or thank you any time I’ve come here. I’m Korean as well but was raised here in the US. If you close at 10 pm then you shouldn’t be harassing your customers telling them that it’s closed when it’s not even 10 pm. I done with the rude, poor customer service here. The elderly Korean lady at the cashier should be more friendly and learn some customer service skills. If she’s miserable working here, she should find another job. I’m done with this store and will no longer be coming here! There’s an H Mart right down the street that I will take my business to! I won’t recommend anyone else to come here either!

I've shopped KoMart for about 20 years now, ever since I stopped in while helping publicize ESL classes. They carry a nice selection of Korean, Japanese, and other Asian items, plus the in-house jobchae is delicious, way better than H Mart's, which was inedible. In fact, I'm embarrassed I've never reviewed them before and only got around to it now because I'm worried the H Mart down the street will take all their business. This Komart has BETTER selection of many snacks, the workers are friendly, and because it's a little smaller, you can get in and out faster. Check here first before you assume the H Mart that just opened up will be a better bet — you'd be surprised!
