It’s been a very long time since we had a decent restaurant experience anywhere in the Seattle area, and this spot hit it out of the park with the food and service. We had to do a swap out bc of our own mistake and they were lovely about it. The kale kimchi was one of the best things we’ve tasted in a loooong time! The stone bibimbop bowls with both pork belly and jammy egg were beautifully marinated and generous. The daily plate with choice of protein are great for those who like a bit of everything. We’ll be back soon!!!
Recently, I had dinner at one of the top 10 places (as per Google’s list) in Fremont. It was a cozy and fun place with fewer bar-style seats along with some outside seats. The combo meals we ordered were delicious, accompanied by tasty side dishes. The miso soup was rich in flavor and included fried tofu. However, there were a few things to note. The bulgogi here wasn’t the authentic bulgogi that you’d find at other Korean restaurants. The grilled chicken tasted more like teriyaki, and the kimchi had a sweet flavor. If you don’t mind these, the overall food was still good. We didn’t try the drinks there. The servers were friendly and efficient. There’s no free parking, but you can find street parking nearby. The only thing we didn’t like was the strong burning smell, even after leaving, the odor still lingered on our clothes. Overall, this is an American-style Korean food place that offers a unique dining experience. We’d come back!
Went on a Friday night around 8:15, and lucked into a couple of seats at the bar. The staff were friendly and the vibe has that handwritten chalkboard, old school Seattle feel, unpretentious, not super bougie or trying too hard. The food …
Cute and cozy spot for a casual Korean meal! Made in House brings Fremont the comfort of home-cooked Korean food with a distinctive Seattle twist (a bit more veggie-forward, centering local and seasonal produce, and with a slightly healthier / lighter vibe). The menu is relatively short, with only four options for mains (plus a rotating special), but it packs a punch. I visited Made in House for a casual Friday dinner with a few friends. We, thankfully, managed to avoid the line and were quickly seated at a booth in the corner. It’s a pretty small space, so you need to order at the counter before sitting down, which is honestly ideal for me and my indecisiveness. My partner and I split their daily bento with tofu, which featured a small portion of many of their sides / banchan, miso soup, rice, and a main protein. Everything was executed perfectly and was remarkably flavorful and fresh! A few standouts were the tofu (well-braised, and I appreciated the added flavor from the onions), soup (very savory and surprisingly full of additions, including tofu and veggies), japchae (just extremely well done). One friend also got the daily bento, but with pork belly (also delicious), and her partner got the katsu curry. The curry was a bit different from what we expected, which was more of a Japanese-style curry, but it was reportedly delicious. Vibes-wise, I love the homey, handmade vibe created by the wooden booths, chalkboards, and string lights, and the corner booth definitely added to the coziness.
We came to the restaurant, and the first question from the waiter, after asking if there were three of us, was, “Did you check the menu?” How would we know that customers are expected to order food at the counter? There was no information …
