Visited January 2nd, 2026 I needed to get my hair colored and had heard so many wonderful things about getting your hair done in Chinatown. I had seen rave reviews in social media and was genuinely excited to experience it for myself while visiting San Francisco Chinatown. We initially stopped at another salon nearby, but it did not work out for what I needed. When we arrived at Mark’s Beauty Salon, Shirley was working with another customer. I asked her about getting my hair colored, and she took the time to listen carefully. She gave me a clear price and kindly asked me to return in about twenty minutes. During that time, we took my six and seven year old daughters a few doors up to Fruitful Dreams for tanghulu and drinks, which made the wait pleasant and easy. When we returned, Shirley began working on my hair right away. From the very beginning, she was excellent, patient, and incredibly kind. She never rushed and truly took her time with every step. She made me feel comfortable and cared for throughout the entire process. The way she washed my hair was honestly the best hair wash I have ever had. Even three days later, my hair still feels amazingly clean. I can feel how fresh it is and how well it was cared for. That alone speaks volumes about her attention to detail and skill. As she continued working, another gentleman joined her in the shop. When we asked for authentic restaurant recommendations, he did something that truly touched us. He did not just tell us where to go or point in a direction. He personally walked us to Hunan House. That level of kindness and hospitality is something you rarely experience. Both Shirley and the gentleman made my day in ways I did not expect. Their warmth, care, and generosity left a lasting impression on me. I highly recommend Mark’s Beauty Salon, and if I ever return to San Francisco, this will be my very first stop.

Really good cut one of the best ive had in the city and got shampoo included and still cheaper than north beach or columbus ave would charge for cut only, even with the shampoo included

Told us hair cut was $20 for a trimmed for long hair. Final amount come out $30. Give them $40 and didn't give me my change back. Be careful of getting scam.

The staff were very accommodating. Haircut service didn’t take long for me. Haircut was $15 + tip. Will definitely come here again for my next haircut. I highly recommend this place for haircuts! Thank you for the excellent service!

I went in to get my bang trimed. Really dusty and dirty. There was hair everywhere. Dust on glass shelves near the door. The owner claims he does a better job cutting hair than Vidal Sassoon. He also said his store is the only one with five star rating. When I looked at Yelp, not the case. I left as fast I could.
