Josh was amazing. Have looked for a stylist who has knowledge of curly hair and I'm so pleased with the results. I have very fine, curly hair and this is the first time I was able to have my hair dry and perfectly curly when I left. He gave me excellent tips on how to achieve the same results at home without having to go 2-4 hours with wet hair. I am thrilled! Thanks, Josh!

I went here twice and the second time was a terrible experience. I left a bad review, but the owner's response was essentially to leave a long message that included bullying and belittling my character (this man does not know me mind you and was not my stylist), and comments insulting the condition of my hair! It was so unprofessional and shocking (and humiliating) that I deleted my review. I'm leaving Portland soon and wanted to put my review back up, though I'll spare the details of my experience at this salon and sum it up in a few words: unprofessional, unskilled, discrimination, and misogyny. For women of color with textured, wavy, or curly hair, I've had great experience at PAZ hair lounge on Broadway. They had the skills to work with my hair and made it feel silky and beautiful! If you look at the other one-star reviews and read the owners responses, you will see this pattern over and over. They bully people, make comments about the condition of their hair (hello - a skilled salon should be able to treat damaged hair; isn't that the point of getting professional services?), and comments about how the reviewer is just an "unhappy person". It's so unprofessional and disgusting, and says ALOT about the character of the owner. Don't spend your money here - Portland has so many great options for hair care and you deserve to be treated well! And to the owner - have you tried therapy? It might help you to become a happier, more stable, and less reactive person, which would actually BENEFIT your business, not hurt it.

Josh is amazing! Very thorough intake, and asked all the questions to help us get what I wanted. The shampoo experience alone was worth it! I left with a cute new doo, feeling heard and well cared for. Cute little Shop, with all the things you need. I highly recommend! And they were a recommendation from another friend, so this is like a double review! 😉
