Pho Mai Tai

Absolutely wonderful place to eat! Highly recommend. Their chicken pho’s, spring rolls, lemonades, and bobas are my go-to orders everytime. The food is delicious, the service is kind and attentive, and the environment is calm. For these reasons I am a regular here!! ☺️

Upon entering the shopping plaza where Pho Mai Tai is located. I was greeted by the beautiful bright black, white, and green neon sign, with its cracky dull faded advertising posters outside, and its semi off-white dim lighting presented by beautiful flowers all amongst the entrance. I was immediately immersed into a world of culture and a sense of classic family homemade style Vietnamese food. I instantly knew I was in the right place, and was more than eager to try the food. To my surprise the food was amazing with the Pho dark in color full of extraordinary flavors unlike any other Pho in the area. Unfortunately towards the end there was this sense of rushing by the female employees, even handing us 2 checks as a subtle sign to say “get out” with 10 minutes still left to close. Anywho, the male employee with glasses was very delightful and showed more hospitality and kindness along with less rush and more patience. Another downside I experienced was the female employees were always on the lookout and it was this sense of them eyeing you down and staring which made me feel somewhat uncomfortable and made the dining experience less enjoyable hence the 4 stars, and not 5. It reminded me of those buffets you go to where the waitresses are all staring eagerly waiting to serve you a new cup of water every 2 minutes. Overall, would I go back? Absolutely! Would I probably hide to avoid making awkward eye contact again. Absolutely 😂 solid place. Good service, and good food, even with the downsides. Would recommend!

This a quaint place with great prices and large serving sizes. There is never a wait and it's one of my favorite places to grab a bite. The sandwiches and phó are always fresh and we also grab some boba tea when we go.

Absolutely excellent experience. The service was excellent. The food was terrific, hot and flavourful! We also got some food to go, and my wife loved it. The leftovers where Absolutely great! I had beef in garlic sauce, the vegetables were perfectly cooked, the sauce was spicy with a complex flavor. So happy we stopped here for lunch.

I thought carefully before deciding to write this review because this has honestly been one of my favorite pho places in Houston for years. I’m not writing this to trash the restaurant—I’m writing in hopes that they do better. We have had a few bad experiences, but this one was the worst. My family ate here on Monday. I ordered the combination pho, which was delicious as always. My young daughter ordered the chicken fried rice. When the rice arrived, I noticed a smell that seemed off but assumed it was from the wok. After finishing my meal, I tried some of the fried rice that my daughter had mostly eaten and immediately noticed a slimy texture and taste. I took a few more bites just to make sure and realized something wasn’t right. I informed one of the workers, and he apologized and went to the kitchen. When I paid, another worker gave me the total, including the rice. I let him know what happened and he simply removed the fried rice from the bill. No apologies, whatsoever. I do not feel that this is the proper compensation for a situation such as this. What disappointed me wasn’t just the food—it was how the situation was handled. My child had already eaten almost all of it. Removing it from the bill did not feel like an appropriate response to serving food that appeared spoiled. I’ve eaten here for years and never thought I’d stop coming, but this experience changed that. Good food matters, but so does customer care and taking food concerns seriously. Please do better.
