Russamee Traditional Thai Massage

I had an excellent experience at Russamee Traditional Thai Massage! The space is exceptionally clean, tidy, and comfortable, creating a truly relaxing atmosphere. I especially loved the beautiful oil paintings on the walls. A huge thank you to Penny, my therapist, who was incredibly warm, patient, and skilled—her technique was fantastic. Highly recommended!

This was the best massage that I have ever had in my life. When you walk in the door their is a beautiful painting of Thai goddesses dancing in front of a temple. I studied it during the short wait for my massage and commented about it to Penny, the owner, before I left. It turns out she painted it. The place is very peaceful. When one enters one feels at peace. The massage menu has many options and price ranges. I opted for a full body deep tissue Thai massage that ended up being amazing. My preference for massage is a lot of pressure, almost to the point of pain, which is hard to find. My masseuse was named Mimi. She was very professional and gave me a strong, very enjoyable massage. Elements of yoga are part of the massage. She would twist my body, walk on me, and work out tightness stored in my body. After the massage I felt like I was floating. When you go to pay you are offered delicious tea. The whole experience was wonderful and I will be going there regularly from now on.

Have been searching for a massage place near me, and this is it. Welcoming front room. Professional thai massages, clean, and dedicated staff. Loved how I was able to book something on the same day and my deep tissue. My only regret is not doing a longer massage! Highly recommend.

The place is nice and the massage was fine. Unfortunately there were a number of issues that came up for me that make me reluctant to go back. First, the website invites questions, but no one answered mine after a couple of weeks. I wanted to have a massage from the owner because she had the best reviews, and she wasn’t listed for bookings. Not hearing back, I made a reservation with another person who was well liked in the reviews, that said she checked in with people and paid attention to their responses. They gave me someone else, however and said she was not there. Id asked for a strong massage, thinking it was a woman, but got a man. All of the Thai people were very nice, but their English was imperfect. I was worried because I had a leg injury. I’d had 2 massages in Thailand— one was fabulous, the other damaging. I felt that the language barrier prevented me from communicating well w the 2nd person and/or she was less experienced. I did not expect that to be a problem here in Oakland, but it was. The massage started off too strong for me and I wasn’t relaxed because I was worried about my leg. The massage was fine — it hurt a lot. Mostly I felt that was a good hurt for my tense muscles. But it was not good for my leg which still hurts days later. Unfortunately I was unable to get the good attn to the sore leg cause I had to stop the roughness. The man at the front desk was unhelpful and rude. E.g. when I asked for the name of my therapist (to give a tip) and mentioned that I did not get the therapist I requested he said I had to “put it in the notes,” they have a different system. I said I requested the person on the website, and he kept repeating that about putting it in the notes in an irritable tone, No idea what that meant. Why ask people to request a therapist if you’re not going to honor the request? He had trouble getting change and I had to ask twice for a tip envelope. He complained that he was very busy. Maybe he was, but it didn’t seem like it-/ I was the only one at the front then. And, more importantly, he was not nice. I was offered a drink, but the tea never came. I decided just to get out of there. The weirdest thing was that when I got home I got an email saying that my massage had been rescheduled for 15 minutes later and had a different therapist listed. It was sent 50 minutes later than my massage appt, during my massage! This from a place that requires advance rescheduling, or you face a steep penalty. Ridiculous! I like traditional Thai massage and would like to try again, but I’m afraid to.

My wife and I would typically do a dinner for our anniversary but this night we really wanted a relaxing massage. We are very familiar with Thai massages as we always do it while on vacation. Well where do you find one that's in town that's reputable? There's a lot of places with high reviews so it can be overwhelming. We tested our luck here and really like the atmosphere and the people. Very accommodating and very nice. The whole thing felt very soothing. I like very hard strong massages and my wife likes medium to soft. She said that was probably one of the best massages she's had. I think next time I go I want to go even stronger. The only thing I don't like about this place is that it's not private rooms it's just curtains that divide us. It still felt very private but if there's any conversations going especially with couples massages you might hear your neighbor. We were the only people during this time but again it was very comfortable in soothing. Pricing was reasonable. Will be coming back in the future.
