Safeway Pharmacy

Zero stars should be an option. Definitely not worth your time. They are inconsistent with very long wait times. I was “helped” by Yelena, who missed one of my prescriptions said nothing. Threw the other prescriptions in the bag without confirming medication. When asked after a second round in line she was very rude, didn’t take any accountability for withholding medications, also had me waiting an additional 45 minutes to fill the missing prescription that was ordered two days prior. They wasted so much time over an issue that could have been solved in 20 minutes but instead took 2 hours of me waiting around. Find a better pharmacy, this one is not it.

I have no other issues with other Safeway pharmacies in Tacoma. I love them in fact. This store not so much. I think it would behoove some of the pharmacists and technicians to understand off-label uses for medications and to not treat people like they are trying to get over on them by "filling early" by 2 days when it takes 2 days to get the medication ordered and ready. My insurance company and my doctor both have told me I should do it this way. Pharmacist shouldn't be adding to the stigmas of certain medications. I don't want to get hooked on traditional opiate medication so I take something different so that I'm not high all day long. So I deserve harsh scrutiny about filling it one or two days "early" even though it never gets picked up early?? The funny part is that when I was taking mass quantities of opiate pain medication, they had no issue filling it early. Obviously early. But the pharmacist will stick to that strict 30 day time limit - only at this location - only with this medication. I don't drink or do drugs. I'm trying to prevent myself from ending up being addicted to these medications. So now is when they decide to be vigilant about the issue? It's very frustrating to be honest. I'm trying to do the right thing and I'm being met with even more scrutiny than when I was not trying to do the right thing.

Never enough cashiers and always issues with the self checkout stations making for VERY long lines almost every day. Be aware

They not only were rude about not taking coupons they treated me poorly when I said my insurance doesn't cover my perceptions until my 7k deductible is met like I have no idea what I'm taking about. Sadly I paid a lot for insurance but I still need to use extra coupons and the site I use says they take it and they have 2 months ago but said they don't have to and gave my perception back as they walked away. Oh and they looked at me like I was stupid and suggested I looked at the wrong pharmacy when I let them know google said they are open till 9 and they close at 7 thought they should know they said I'm sure you look d at a different pharmacy we are always closed at 7. Just trying to be helpful I went back on google and double checked and made a suggestion that the hours be changed since they weren't inclined to do so.

*Tonight 10/3/2019 JARED Made my Day! He was very understanding and compassionate of my situation! The staff here is why I continue to make the drive here. (Despite the fact I no longer am living in the area) * Also The pharmacy staff including the Pharmacy Manager Michael are always friendly, helpful and respectful of you. It doesn't matter wether you have private insurance or Medicaid they are always helpful and not judgemental.
