Lys is truly a master at their craft, and an amazing human being! I get compliments on their cuts constantly, and they always grow out beautifully. Their passion for hair and dedication to honing their craft really shows! The salon itself is beautiful and full of great energy. Highly suggest treating yourself to some one-on-one time with Lys and let them give you an absolutely amazing cut!! Thank you Lys!! I haven't felt this much like myself in a long time!!

If I could, I would give Strange Bird Salon & my stylist, Katie Blackshear, 10 stars. I have fine, straight hair and have struggled to find a stylist that really works with me to create a cut that I love. Katie took the time to talk through the details of what I wanted, was open and encouraging of my vision for how I wanted my hair to look and feel, and was knowledgeable and confident on how to execute it. I’ve always wanted shorter layers, and I’ve always been talked out of doing them because the texture of my hair would make them too choppy (allegedly). Katie, on the other hand, understood what I wanted and why and she gave me layers!!!! And they look so good!!! It’s been three days since my appointment and I have stated no less than 20 times how good my hair looks and how much I love the cut. I was able to keep my length, and gain way more movement, dimension, and shape. I genuinely cannot overstate how happy I am with my experience. On top of the incredible cut and style, this is the first time in a very long time that I’ve felt comfortable in a salon. Katie was engaging, is a great conversationalist, and had an energy like she was happy to be there, happy to work with me, etc. I felt welcome from the minute I walked in, and the vibes at Strange Bird are a 10/10, one million percent recommend. In 12 years of living in the Austin area, I have never gone back to a salon or stylist for a second visit. That’s no longer the case because I will absolutely be coming back to Strange Bird and booking with Katie for the foreseeable future, and if you’re reading this, you should too.

I absolutely loved my experience at this salon! I went to Lys, she was perfect. She was very attentive and knew exactly what to do with my hair! She gave me recommendations for products to use and made my experience so enjoyable. She is a great stylist, and super personable. If I wasn’t moving out of state I would go to her every time!!! I definitely recommend her services to anyone especially if you are not fully certain on how you want your hair cut/styled. The salon as a whole provides such a comforting environment, I’ve never had an experience like this before! Definitely worth every penny 😍

Grace is seriously the best. I’ve been to a lot of salons and she always gets it right every single time. She really listens to what you want and makes you feel comfortable the whole appointment. My hair always comes out looking amazing, healthy, and exactly how I pictured it (honestly usually better)

Strange Bird is by far the best salon experience. From the pleasant and welcoming front desk, CLEAN air, complimentary beverages, and the comfy furniture in the waiting area, I was sold before my cut. Then I met LYS, who took the time to get to know my hair and what I was looking for. I did not have any overly specific cuts, I just knew I wanted a cute bob and a fresh look. Took the chance to trust what they thought would work, and did not disappoint. Best shampoo, cut, and style of my life. I will definitely be back and would recommend this salon and stylist to anyone that will listen.
