Taste of Asia

I stopped by Taste of Asia in San Antonio to try their pho after hearing good things, and my experience was a bit mixed. If you’re specifically looking for pho in San Antonio, I do think this is probably the best bowl I’ve had in the city. The broth has noticeably more depth and flavor than many of the other local pho restaurants I’ve tried, where the broth often tastes watered down or lacking richness. The meat was tender, the noodles were cooked well, and the portion size was satisfying. That said, my expectations are a little different because I’ve had pho in cities with much larger Vietnamese communities. Compared to places like Houston, Orange County, or other areas known for outstanding Vietnamese cuisine, this bowl wouldn’t rank nearly as high. Those restaurants tend to have more complex broths, fresher garnishes, and an overall higher level of authenticity and consistency. In comparison, Taste of Asia serves a good bowl for San Antonio, but it still has room for improvement. The service during my visit was friendly, although it was slower than I expected, especially considering the restaurant wasn’t overly busy. The dining room was clean and comfortable, making it a pleasant place to enjoy a meal. Overall, I’m giving Taste of Asia 3 out of 5 stars. I would absolutely recommend it if you’re craving pho in San Antonio because it’s the strongest option I’ve found locally. However, if you’ve experienced top-tier pho in cities with larger Vietnamese populations, you may find it doesn’t quite reach that same level of quality.

Absolutely one of the best Asian restaurants in San Antonio! They have some of the tastiest fried spring rolls around. Plus the hot and sour soup is delicious. I tried the beef lemongrass and it was so good 😋. They give large portions and the staff is super friendly. I highly recommend this spot to everyone.

I won't be back. The food was so-so. The rice was different from the fried rice every other Asian restaurant has, and not in a good way. It was bland and yellow. There were 3 other tables and somehow we waited like 20 minutes for our food. The staff sat in 3 tables in the front and center of the restaurant. They left their snacks and drinks on the tables. It didn't feel welcoming. It was like we walked into their house and we were bothering them. Our waiter was nice but...China Inn is a MUCH better option in the area!

My family has been going here since before I was born. Easily my favorite restaurant of all time. The pho is divine as well as the spring rolls. No other Vietnamese restaurant has been able to match the quality we get here. I love this restaurant!

This place has really delicious food. We were not disappointed in the slightest with any item we received. I normally am not the biggest fan of egg rolls but these were great perfectly crispy and the perfect proportion of filling. Egg drop soup had was different than most as it had carrots and peas but I did not see mushrooms and it was not watery so a good soup. General Chicken and Orange Chicken were both very good.
