United Hair Salon

Went in to buy some tweezers and decided to have Sam fix my haircut that was done by another Salon. He did an amazing job! He’s such a sweet and kind person, not to mention very experienced and good at what he does! Will definitely be back when I’m in the area again. Came here from Seattle to visit my sister for the holidays.

WORST $300 I’VE EVER SPENT I paid $300 for a hair coloring appointment at United Salon in El Cajon, expecting a full service (blonde on top and black in the back), but I walked out absolutely furious. The staff seemed nice when I arrived, but everything went wrong by the time it was over. They told me blow-drying wasn’t included in my service and that it was an extra styling charge, so after all that I ended up leaving with dripping wet hair. I had an important event the next day and needed my hair to be done properly, so walking out of the salon in tears with wet hair was humiliating and completely unacceptable. I specifically asked the stylist, Sam, if he knew how to work with African American hair, and he assured me he could. But after coloring my hair, Sam only wanted to blow-dry the blonde top portion to show it off – and flat-out refused to touch the rest of my hair. When I pointed out that I had paid for a complete service, he finally tried to salvage the situation by running the blow dryer over the rest of my hair without even using a comb. It was sloppy, uneven, and half-finished. To top it all off, Sam then said the salon closed at 6 PM and he didn’t have time to finish styling my hair. I felt completely let down and unvalued as a customer. After paying three hundred dollars, they treated me like I didn’t even matter. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a salon. Save yourself the frustration and DO NOT go to United Salon in El Cajon – you will regret it.

Sam cut my hair and he’s absolutely the nicest person I got to cut my hair! He did an amazing job and made me feel so comfortable and calm when I was nervous for a new look. He gave me the mirror to check every time he did a little cutting making sure it was exactly what I wanted. 11/10 experience and cut!!

I’m so happy with the results of my hair. I’m in love with my highlights 😍. I’ve been to a lot of well known salons and none of them did what I wanted. Sam did exactly what I asked for. He is very professional and helpful with giving me treatment advices for my hair. I highly recommend this place. Sam goes over and beyond to have a happy customer.

This is the most humble and professional salon I have ever entered. I unsuccessfully tried to cut my own hair and inquired about prices at many salons to fix it. Sam was honest, fair, and knowledgeable; he was able to make my hair look beautiful. He genuinely cares about satisfying his customers rather than just making money. I wish there were more business owners like him! If I could give him 100 starts I would!
