University Place Radiator and Auto Service

By far the best mechanic I have gone to. Moved here recently and have been going here for the past couple years. They are always efficient, communicative, and clearly want the best for their customers. They will take the time to explain what is wrong with the car and all of the available options. Happy I found them and will continue to go here!

I gave University Place Radiator and Auto Service a five out of five star rating. I was impressed by how efficient and friendly the staff were. They explained the service in a knowledgeable way, answered all my questions and I felt they were trustworthy. The shop was convenient to get to and the appointment was quick. I highly recommend them for any car maintenance or engine repair. Great auto shop University Place WA.

Radiator flush, new thermostat & antifreeze, fuel filters, new fuses, Rear light panel & bulb, replaced air conditioning condenser on this trip. Always do oil, brakes, general trouble shooting…if they can’t do it they refer me to who can…always straightforward & honest…back up their work. Cath in WA

Unfortunately, my family had a very disappointing experience with this business. We brought our vehicle in because it was overheating, and we were told the radiator was cracked. We paid approximately $2,800 to have the issue repaired. Less than a week later, the vehicle overheated again. When we returned, we were told it was now a different issue and that the necessary part could not be located. We were told the business could manufacture the part and repair the vehicle for an additional $250. When we questioned why we should have to pay additional money after already spending $2,800 to address the overheating problem, Ashley's response was extremely unprofessional and dismissive. She said, "It was your choice to spend the money. I would never put money into a car like that" Essentially she blamed us for choosing to trust them and told us that if we wanted it fixed we would have to pay for the new repair. We initially decided to take the vehicle elsewhere. After reconsidering, we called back and authorized them to proceed with the repair. At that point, however, Ashley told us that they do not perform that type of work and that we would need to take the vehicle to a machinist. This directly contradicts a text message we received from Ashley stating that they would manufacture the part themselves and charge us $250 to complete the repair. That inconsistency was extremely concerning and left us questioning the accuracy and honesty of what we had been told. Ultimately, we picked up the vehicle and will not be returning to this business. Spending $2,800 on a repair only to have the same overheating issue return within a week, followed by inconsistent explanations and unprofessional customer service, is highly disappointing and unacceptable. I strongly encourage anyone considering using this business to ask detailed questions, get everything in writing, and carefully consider their options before authorizing expensive repairs.
