Vons

Prologue: In the past, pre-Covid, Von's was my go to favorite store. However most of the Von's that i frequented, did not have self check out, and lines and wait were longer, even though checkout lanes were not manned. Frustration took hold, and switched to Ralph's. Current: This Von's in Poway is by far, the best Von's i have been too. First, it is huge, very new setup, self checkout, and just and overall well run Von's. I came by to purchas a few items for my lunch...I am a bit of a Snack Daddy Connoisseur for making the famous "Scooby-Snack". Today i purchased the fresh baked bun with melted cheddar cheese with slices of jalapeño embedded within the cheese. I picked up two fresh cooked spicy chicken tenders, and a half pound of Spicy BBQ smoked sausage. To close this out, I purchased sliced Lucerne Ghost pepper cheese. This concoction is simply amazing when combined together. Remember, to have about 15,000 Steps in prior to tackling this epic wonderful snack-OLA! If you in the Poway area, this Von's is the stop shop to go to.....

The thing that I dislike about this location is I often have to observe the workers socializing. Also the last few weeks there has been business activity which is understandable. However this includes a tendancy by the business workers to be discussing conversations in a loud, sociable manner and it borders on unprofessional and rude. For example I heard someone loudly say to another individual 'you finally showed up'. Man stocking Pepsi had Bluetooth and having conversation on his phone the entire time. Or you will hear them discussing personal matters or interstore politics. It makes me feel that the shopping experience is not relaxing plus makes me feel like I'm in their way. This has been something I've never observed at any other vons stores. Very strange atmosphere. When I'm paying nine dollars for a stack of paper plates I sort of expect the employees to be acting like they are working. Maybe I'm missing some aspect of grocery store organization.

I had a concerning experience at this Vons recently that I think management should be aware of. While shopping in the meat section, a family was walking an American bulldog through the store and standing in front of the packaged meat displays with the dog beside them. The dog did not appear to be identified as a service animal. Even though the meat is packaged, it still felt unsanitary and inappropriate to have a large dog in close proximity to food areas. Grocery stores are environments where hygiene standards matter a lot to customers, and seeing pets in the aisles — especially around food sections — makes it uncomfortable to shop. I understand that legitimate service animals are allowed, but if this was not a service animal then store policy should be enforced. I hope management can review their procedures so that food areas remain clean and comfortable for everyone shopping here.

Just got off work and it's my eldest daughter's Birthday. Vons is my go to for morning birthday surprise flowers, balloons and cake. I've been doing this for years and hopefully more years to come.

First time visiting this vons and I was very impressed. Everything was clean, and well organized. I had no issued finding anything I was looking for, and got through the self checkout pretty quick with no problems.
