Good selection, especially if you’re looking for stuff you won’t find at a regular grocery store. Seafood looked fresh too. Gets a little busy but that’s kind of expected. Would definitely keep coming back.
I like shopping at 99 Ranch Market. I wish they had opened the store in Elk Grove as they had planned a long time ago, but they didn't. The Sacramento store is in a not very safe area. I don't want to shop there at night! I've shopped at many 99 Ranch Markets in Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Seattle. They're the best Asian supermarket chain in the United States. This one in the Pacific Pearl Shopping Center is good but not the best compared to the other 99 Ranch Markets in the Bay Area. The prices of most of the items seem slightly more expensive, and the Chinese hot foods are not very good. But the store itself is still very clean, well-stocked, and easy to navigate through and find the items I'm looking for. The latest news in Elk Grove said SF Supermarket is going to open a new store there. I hope 99 Ranch Market will open one soon.
The young cashier seemed visibly upset and unhappy the entire time. While we were checking out, she turned around and complained to an older employee in Cantonese in a very obvious, frustrated tone. I may not understand everything, but I can definitely read the room, bc right after that the older employee gave me a very strange look, which just made the whole interaction even more uncomfortable. If employees feel the need to vent about customers mid-transaction, maybe do it somewhere customers can’t literally see and hear you? If cashiering is that overwhelming, maybe consider placing staff in roles that don’t involve direct customer interaction. It’s really not that hard to make customers feel at least neutral, if not welcome. Also, let’s not pretend this is an isolated issue. This store has had ongoing problems with product quality. I once bought a red bean cake, opened it immediately after leaving, and found mold on it. Brought it back — no apology, no accountability, just vibes. At this point, I’d honestly rather go to H Mart. Cleaner, fresher, friendlier, and somehow even cheaper. And best of all, I’ve never had employees openly whisper about customers right in front of them. Consistency is key I guess but unfortunately, so is the disappointment lol
The market is big and complete. The parking is easy. The cashier is nice and give the information regarding coupon. The dinsum doesn't look very appetizing and the area is kind of dark.
Another location of the well known Chinese grocery chain. As usual there is a deli (with tables) and a bakery, and of course live seafood.
