Incredible tasting menu. Akai really impressed us with their flavors, technique, and creativity. The attention to detail was outstanding, even down to the backlit menus. My personal favorites were the A5 wagyu and the pork belly sushi roll. My boyfriend's favorites were the tuna crispy rice and the A5 wagyu. The nigiri was amazing, I would've expected us to be right on the coast with that kind of flavor and quality. Our server was very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. The Kaiseki family style is a lot of food, so if you're going to try that, be sure to come hungry. Besides that, we had an unforgettable experience, and I hope to come back the next time I am in Oklahoma City. I may dare to say this is my favorite restaurant in OKC.
Oh where do I start.. first of all, thank you Akai Sushi for being the highlight of our Anniversary night!!! We made reservation for 6.45 on Saturday night. Our server, Dakota (I hope I remember it right, she wears glasses)- girl you’re seriously so awesome! Her service is phenomenal. I am pregnant and wanted to order one of the sushi roll but Dakota gave me recommendations on different rolls that is more pregnancy-safe instead and she nailed it! We ended up ordering 2 starters, 3 meals, 1 dessert. Everything is so flavorful, fresh, unique and authentic. And by the end, we were so surprised to get this sweet little gesture from them by putting candle on our dessert to celebrate our Anniversary. Hubby & I absolutely can’t wait to go back again, especially after my pregnancy so I can explore more of their menu without any restrictions!!
AMAZING Service provided by both bartenders Jose and Jenny! Their mocktails are just as delightful as the energy and the vibes in this restaurant. The Manager (Summer) did a great job of interacting with the guests, as well as leading a lovely staff. Her demeanor and ability to relate to and work along side her team demonstrates the environment and atmosphere that breeds happy team members and a greatly ran establishment. Highly recommend this location to anyone looking for great food and drinks in a great atmosphere. We will definitely be back soon!
Best sushi in OKC by a long shot! We've had sushi at the top places in the metro and this beats them all hands down. What we ate: salmon k-pop, shogun, cherry blossom, the JR yellow line, philadelphia, otoro. They get their sushi directly from Japan, which shows in quality. The service was top notch (friendly, attentive, very knowledgeable). We were greeted on our entry and a warm farewell by many of the staff as we left. The chef came by the table to touch base on our experience too. This place is worth the prices 100%. We'll be repeat customers for sure. TIP: definitely make reservation to ensure you get a table at a desired date/time if required.
We were in the area and just randomly walked in for dinner and was very impressed! The food was very fresh and flavorful. I ordered the edamame which had this amazing sauce on it, the spider roll and the Rock Shrimp which were just as great! The cocktails were pretty disappointing.. didn’t taste much alcohol, but will give it another try because the sushi is so good.
