My family and I stopped by today and we were excited to see a bake shop with local vendors and asian flavors, yet we were unfortunately let down by the cookies… we had purchased 4 flavors; the mango sticky rice, ube condensed milk, vietnamese coffee and white chocolate as well as the pandan coconut bean. Both the flavors and texture of the mango sticky rice and pandan cookie were a let down, the cookie seemed par baked and flavors weren’t coming through as well as i’d hoped. The only edible cookies we were left with were the ube cookie, as well as the coffee one which i feel didn’t wow me for a nearly 6$ cookie. I love Vince’s vision, yet i don’t think it was executed as well as we had hoped, and do not think we will be back for the cookies, yet the other vendors treats looks yummy! (we also purchased the coconut pandan ice cream from another vendor which was very yummy!) ps. i’ve attached a picture of the pandan cookie, which seemed as if it were more of a cookie dough texture rather than a baked cookie :(

I've always loved the look of the exterior of this shop, with the design holding up so much history. I thought it would be cool if it was retrofitted to another type of business, and really glad anh oi came in! It's an incredibe business and community project allowing other businesses to be showcased and grow. Also, the "Black Sesame Red Bean" cookie was the best thing I've ever had. Planning to stopy by to pick that up again, and get try the Fried Banana next. Will be letting others know about this spot!

We made the trek from The Beyond (aka eastside) during soft opening, May 15th, and I'm elated that we did. There's a good variety of product types from local makers. Breads, cookies, caneles, madelines, crispy rice treats - things most of us are very familiar with, but with unique Asian twists like ube, matcha, miso, black sesame, etc. All food items are pre-packaged, except for the Aufe coffee stand - which, by the way, WOW! I've never had anything like that before, smooth Robusta coffee (rated and selected by Aufe themselves) capped with a thick layer of velvety foam, the perfect balance of flavor and just enough sweetness. We had the Salted Sesame and the Pandan, both truly delicious and eye opening for us. There were also ceramics, kitchen linens, and athletic wear (!) which I look forward to adding to my collection. The whole store exudes a joy and warmth that is difficult to articulate - a welcome from not only the staff but the bakers & makers whose life stories flavor their carefully crafted products. The owner, Vince, does a fantastic job of showing the people behind the items that line the shelves. (If you check out Anh Oi Bake Shop on instagram, he has lots of reels introducing all his collaborators.) The amount of time and thought put into every aspect is evident: the goods, the location, the microwave for when you want to enjoy a warm, gooey cookie on the spot. And then there are the window & wall art, lighting, layout, colors, and table & chairs that all come together in a nostalgic but somehow modern ambience. It feels like a place where everybody has something they've always known but also things they've never known. Vince explains "Anh Oi" as "A way of calling out to someone - a brother, a partner, a stranger - with care. It's Vietnamese. It's tender...it carries the ache I want to keep...For the third culture kids. For the Asian Americans still finding their way back. For anyone who's ever called out to something that feels like home - and hoped it might call back." I think home is calling back.
