Sign in to reviewI've heard people talk about Asahi Imports and finally had the chance to check it out! Their rice balls and bentos are not only delicious but affordable. This is the best place for Japanese food that I've found outside of the ramen realm. They do sell out quickly though, if you can swing by for lunch I'd definitely recommend it. The staff here are seem like really lovely people as well.
Been wanting to check Asahi Imports out for over a year now and finally got to do that today. And I am in love! So many Japanese products, including ready-to-go snacks and drinks. I love everything Japanese and this was such a cute find for me. We got some items today, including a black sesame and matcha soft serve that is only served on weekends. The matcha soft serve is average but I really like and can taste the black sesame soft serve. This is a legit Japanese grocery store to check out, especially if you can’t find certain items in typical stores.
Been seeing posts and talks of this shop with authentic goods, Japanese grocery and cuisine, freshly made. Managed to grab two riceballs still warm 🤌🏼 shiitake beef: excellent, can't wait to try the other one. There's a variety to look through with the shop from pantry, ingredients and the fridge department with ice cream to beer to prepacked fruit cream sandwiches and kani salads: wide selection. Just be aware, this is a packed space, so be ready to likely have to excuse yourself and squeeze around since it's a hot spot for sure- very worth the wait check this place out, will return when I can to try more of their food and seek out their imports✌🏼
I am still beaming after my visit to Asahi Imports on Burnet Road. As someone who is part Japanese, finding a dedicated Japanese market in Austin is more than just a convenience—it’s a connection to my roots. I was honestly surprised and so delighted by the incredible selection they’ve packed into this space. From specialty pantry staples and authentic dishware to an amazing array of Japanese snacks and sweets, it felt like a true "konbini" experience right here in Texas. The highlight of the trip, however, was the food counter. I picked up some musubi, and one bite took me immediately back to my childhood, watching my mom make musubi for me. It’s rare to find food that carries that much nostalgia and authentic flavor, but Asahi nailed it. Beyond the goods, the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, making the whole experience feel welcoming and personal. Having a store like this nearby is absolutely the best. Whether you are looking for specific ingredients or just a delicious, authentic lunch, this place is a local treasure!
Came here a couple times so far! I like Japanese items they sell for the community here! Bits and pieces of everything you need for Japanese foods! Also, I like having their onigiri 🍙 (rice ball), especially, takana, kinpira and miso flavors! Will love to be back when I’m around! Keep up the good work! Cheers 🥂 …
