About

Ba Le Bakery is listed on FindALoco in Philadelphia, PA with address, phone, website, hours, and map location. Common services and related keywords include Vietnamese Restaurant.

Ba Le Bakery is a Vietnamese restaurant at 606 Washington Ave in Philadelphia, PA, serving bánh mì and other Vietnamese favorites in a neighborhood with a strong Vietnamese community. Customer reviews describe a steady flow of local diners and note that the bakery is well known in Philadelphia. Its bánh mì has a particularly loyal following: one customer says they make a seven-hour drive from Ohio to buy large quantities for their own customers, citing the sandwiches’ consistency and traditional flavor. That kind of repeat visit speaks to the place’s role as a destination for people who value a familiar, well-made Vietnamese sandwich.

The bánh mì menu is a natural starting point. Reviewers mention barbecue pork and pork belly versions, with crisp baguettes and a generous amount of vegetable filling. Another review discusses a special bánh mì with pork belly, ham, and bologna sausage, so diners can expect a range of fillings rather than a single signature combination. These sandwiches may suit a quick lunch, a casual meal while exploring the neighborhood, or a larger takeaway order. The comments also show that people have different preferences about particular meats and combinations, so choosing a filling that sounds appealing to you is a sensible approach.

Reviews also mention salmon rolls and a zesty green sauce, as well as smoothies with optional tapioca pearls. Feedback on these items is mixed: one diner enjoyed the salmon but found the roll’s filling less memorable, while another was unhappy with the texture of the tapioca pearls. Customer experiences with service and other bakery items vary as well. For the clearest picture, treat reviews as individual experiences rather than a guarantee that every item or visit will be the same. The overall rating is 4.2 from 1,185 reviews, offering useful context alongside the specific comments.

Ba Le Bakery is a practical option for people seeking Vietnamese food in South Philadelphia, especially those interested in bánh mì and casual takeout. Its Washington Avenue address places it in the area reviewers associate with Philadelphia’s Vietnamese community, making it relevant to locals, visitors, and anyone looking for a Vietnamese-owned neighborhood business. The setting is described through its local clientele and community location, not as a formal dining experience; reviews point most clearly to sandwiches and takeaway purchases. If you are planning a visit, the listed hours are 8:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. Sunday. Checking current hours before traveling is worthwhile, particularly for a long-distance pickup.

We purchase thousands of bánh mì from Banh Mi Ba Le and bring them back to Ohio for our customers—and there’s a reason we’re willing to drive 7 hours each way. Simply put, they are the best. Their sandwiches are incredibly consistent, packed with flavor, and truly capture the essence of traditional Vietnamese bánh mì. Every ingredient tastes fresh and thoughtfully prepared, and you can tell they make everything in-house. The balance of flavors—from the meats to the pickled vegetables to the bread—is unforgettable. All of the nail salons we supply absolutely love them, and the demand speaks for itself. We’ve tried bánh mì from many places, and nothing compares to this level of quality and authenticity. If you’ve never been, it’s absolutely worth the stop. This is what a real bánh mì should taste like.

We tried their BBQ pork and pork belly banh mi sandwiches which were delicious. The baguette was crisp plus there was a good amount of veggie filling. The salmon in our salmon roll was excellent but the filling was just okay. The accompanying zesty green sauce made it tasty. We ordered and paid in advance but had to wait about 5 minutes when we came for pick up. There are multiple cases of grab and go sauces, side dishes and Vietnamese pastries. Several food cases had New Year's appetizers too. Note there is no onsite seating, just grab and go. Ba Le is in an Asian shopping center with lots of free parking. We appreciated that they did identify vegetarian and vegan options on their online menu.

This was, as I recall, my first time eating a Bánh mì. This place, located in a Vietnamese immigrant community, has many local customers and is quite famous in Philadelphia. Đặc biệt: The pork belly and ham were reasonable, but the Bologna sausage was shocking...it must be a intergrated product. I felt the smoky flavor was too strong, masking the aroma of the other meats. The truly delicious part was those authentic Vietnamese: the pickled vegetables, including white radish, carrot, and cucumber, were sweet, sour, crisp, and refreshing; the cilantro also made the overall taste even fresher, and I hadn't had cilantro in a long time since coming to the US! Satisfying!

Their tapioca pearls needs better quality control. I ordered a strawberry smoothie with tapioca pearls (an additional $1), and the pearls were honestly inedible. The texture was slimy, lacked chewiness, and made me feel sick. This isn’t the …
