The selection reflected in customer comments leans into classic bakery favorites with an Irish touch. Reviewers mention Irish shortbread, assorted cookies, butter twists, hot cross buns, and apple pandowdy, described as similar to an apple bread pudding. Around St. Patrick's Day, one visitor noticed French bread shaped and colored like green alligators and snakes, an example of the bakery's creative seasonal presentation. These details make Bit of Ireland Bakery a relevant stop for people searching for Irish-style baked items or a bakery in San Leandro, California. Product selection and seasonal offerings can change, so a specific item seen in a review may not be in the case on every visit.

Hot cross buns are the strongest recurring recommendation in the provided feedback: one customer says they look forward to them each year and reports driving across the Bay for them. That reviewer also notes that larger orders may be eligible for special-order hot cross buns throughout the year. Carrot cake also earned a positive comment for being moist with cream cheese frosting that was not overly sweet. Feedback is not uniform, however: a separate reviewer reported a disappointing advance-order birthday chocolate cake, while another praised past birthday cakes. This range makes it sensible to discuss the flavor, filling, frosting, and pickup details directly when placing a custom cake order.

For visitors deciding where to stop, Bit of Ireland Bakery suits people seeking traditional cookies and pastries, seasonal baked goods, or a locally convenient cake pickup in San Leandro. Its early opening is particularly useful for morning customers, while the later Thursday through Saturday closing time allows more room for an afternoon visit. The customer comments create a specific picture of the shop, from Irish shortbread and hot cross buns to inventive holiday-shaped bread displays. With a 4.3 rating across 56 reviews, it is a bakery worth considering for its stated specialties while confirming current availability and custom-order details for the most tailored visit.

The birthday chocolate cake we ordered in advance on from " bit of Ireland bakery" for our daughters birthday turn out to be a disaster cake. Super dry, tasteless chocolate cake, weird flavor milk chocolate filling, the frosting white butter cream was definitely altered with crisco lard.. it had no butter taste at all. The fist bite was puzzling making us question what the hell it was that we were eating? Don't waste your money or ruin your special occasion. They have a Non refund policy in place according to the owner. Initially she refused to refund my money, but she made an exception for me, at least that's what she said! And refunded $40 cash to me . Our cake cost$ 87.50

Owner was nice. It was close to St. Patrick's Day so there were some french bread made to look like green alligator and snakes. It showed a lot of creativity. They have Irish shortbread, cookies, butter twist, hot cross buns as well as assorted cookies. The apple pandowdy (similar to an apple bread pudding) was really heavy. There is free parking at the plaza.

Best hot cross buns. I look forward to these each year (and just learned you can special order them throughout the year if you have a decent size order). I drive from across the bay just to get these - they're worth it! Update: drove to pick up my hot cross buns and tried another pastry this bakery is famous for: monkey bread. Very tender loaf infused with cinnamon-sugar. The second time I visited (before noon on a Saturday), they were already sold out so get there early! Also, I didn't realize this bakery made French macarons! They are boxed in an elegant gold box and come in assorted flavors (chewy, delicious). I am always looking for a small gift and these are ideal. Great neighborhood bakery!

I’ve yet to try the other confections here, but their carrot cake was fantastic. Very moist and the cream cheese frosting wasn’t too sweet. We planned on freezing the leftovers but ended up eating it all before there was a chance!

Bit of Ireland was a great bakery years ago.. had my kids birthdays made every years so moist and fresh. Came into this bakery few months back, lady behind counter didnt appear to care to help me, very rude, everything behind display counter looked day old. Definitely not the Bit of Ireland I remember..
