Cà phê Việt is a welcoming coffee shop in San Francisco, CA bringing Vietnamese coffee culture into the heart of the city’s downtown area. Located at 121 New Montgomery St, this local spot is a convenient stop for office workers, visitors, and anyone exploring SoMa who wants a focused coffee break with distinctly Vietnamese flavors. With a 4.5 rating from 42 reviews, the shop has built a reputation for drinks that feel familiar to fans of Vietnamese café culture while still fitting the rhythm of busy San Francisco days.

What draws many people to Cà phê Việt is its lineup of classic and specialty drinks. Customers specifically mention the Viet iced coffee, the classic iced coffee with grass jelly, and iced coffee topped with egg cream foam. Reviewers describe the coffee as strong and fruity, with condensed milk balanced so it is sweet, but not overly sweet for a traditional Vietnamese iced coffee. The grass jelly adds a refreshing texture, while the egg cream foam gives another layer of richness for those who want something a little different. For people searching for Vietnamese coffee in San Francisco, this is the kind of place where you can try recognizable staples with a thoughtful presentation.

Beyond coffee, Cà phê Việt also offers light food options such as a vegan bánh mì, making it a useful choice if you want a quick bite with your drink. The atmosphere comes across as visually appealing and nicely decorated, and several customers appreciate that there is some seating available. At the same time, reviews suggest the space works best for a short coffee stop rather than a long meal, especially if you are ordering something crumbly or hoping for a larger dine-in setup. That makes it a practical pick for solo coffee runs, casual meetups, or a mid-day recharge near the Financial District.

The shop may especially appeal to people who already enjoy Vietnamese-style coffee and want that bold, condensed-milk profile in San Francisco, California. Reviews show that taste preferences vary: some guests love the balance and refreshing add-ins, while others would like more dairy-free drink choices or a deeper boldness in certain drinks. That kind of feedback also helps paint a clear picture for new customers: this is a café worth visiting for its signature Vietnamese beverages, with a menu that may be best appreciated by those curious about classic preparations and texture-forward additions like jelly or foam.

Open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Cà phê Việt fits easily into both weekday routines and weekend coffee plans. If you are looking for a coffee shop in San Francisco where Vietnamese iced coffee is the main attraction, this downtown address is a solid local option for a quick stop, a stylish cup, and a taste that stands apart from the usual café lineup.

The vegan banh mi was tasty but kind of dry. I wish there were more dairy-free drink options instead of just pourover Vietnamese coffee, like a vegan coconut cream drink would be amazing! Beautifully decorated but no space to eat since you'll need a table for the sandwich crumbs.

Had the classic iced coffee with grass jelly. Perfect amount of condensed milk (not too sweet but sweet enough for a classic Vietnamese iced coffee) and the grass jelly adds a refreshing touch. The coffee itself is strong and fruity. Very good! Shop is still in the process of unpacking and boxes and cables were piled around. Would get 5 stars atmosphere if it was completed. Food would get 5 stars if it wasn't so expensive for one drink. Barista was very friendly!

While I only tried the Viet Iced Coffee, I felt it was expensive and too sweet for what it was. I love a good ca phe Sua da, but it didn’t feel as bold in flavor as I was expecting. While there was an option for no jelly, it wouldn’t lower the cost. I have yet to try to egg cream or food though! It’s a small interior, with just enough space to sit to wait for your order, but not for socializing with friends.
