Canseco's Arabi Market is a neighborhood grocery store at 6735 St Claude Ave in Arabi, Louisiana. For nearby residents, it offers a convenient place to pick up everyday groceries, shop deli selections, and bring home prepared food. Customer feedback describes a smaller, well-run store with a stocked deli and helpful service, while also noting that prices can be higher than at some competing stores. That mix makes it useful to consider both the convenience of the location and the items you plan to buy when deciding whether it fits your regular shopping routine.
The deli and prepared-food counter are among the store's most frequently praised features. Customers mention rotisserie chicken, soups, and deli sides, including green beans and macaroni and cheese. One shopper was especially pleased with a medium-well steak order, while another describes returning regularly for thinly shaved ham. These experiences suggest a practical option for picking up a meal or adding ready-to-serve items to groceries. Requests and results may vary, so if a particular cut, slice, or preparation matters, it can be helpful to check with the counter before placing an order.
The market may suit people who live nearby and value having groceries and deli food close at hand, as well as shoppers looking for prepared items for an easy dinner. Reviews describe the store as small but well maintained, and some customers say the deli stays stocked. Sale items also receive positive mention. At the same time, one local shopper notes that everyday prices can run higher than those at competitors. Comparing sale prices or checking a few key items against your usual store may help you make the most of a visit.
Service feedback is mixed, as it can be at a busy neighborhood market. Some customers describe staff as friendly and helpful, including a manager who assisted with an exchange shortly before closing. Other reviews report disappointing interactions at checkout or at the deli. Taken together, the comments provide a realistic picture rather than a promise of identical service on every visit. If something about an order or purchase is not right, speaking with a manager may be a useful next step; one reviewer says a manager handled a produce concern pleasantly.

Meant to update this review a week ago but I'm in the middle of moving...,. Anyway, id bought a watermelon here that was inedible, so went back in to hopefully exchange it.. the manager (I wish I'd remembered her name) was delightfully pleasant and despite me showing up 10 mins before closing time she made the exchange process as easy as possible and had the most warm, hospitable demeanor of any grocery personnel I've ever witnessed. It's made me want to return here despite the slightly more expensive watermelons (I eat a LOT of them.. some friends have expressed concern, ha). I do still wish the produce section were a bit àmore plentiful... Mangoes, honeydew and such. A lot of what's there is very unripe, too- like rock hard peaches and green avocados you could use as sciatica massage balls (in lieu of a lacrosse ball for those unfamiliar). The store itself is cute... much less stressful than Robert's or Wal Mart. Definitely confused as to why they don't carry hola nola tortillas. If y'all see this, that's my vote for a new bread product. But I'd prefer the produce, first and foremost. And some affordable coconut waters.. I buy tons of them weekly. ;)
Time and time again when I come here, I notice one particular cashier gives me attitude when I literally just try to check out (but she’s friendly to other customers...so hey I can at least confirm she’s nice to other patrons of the store). Not sure what the issue is but even if she was having a bad day, I didn’t think it was necessary for her to be rude to me. However, I do like the convenience of this location and I like supporting a local grocery store. Just not sure when I’ll be back again after today’s interaction. I finally decided to leave a review since it seems to be a recurring theme.
I had to call and tell them how amazing MAJ did on my steak order... I can't express how amazing he did on my Medium Well steak. I ordered a plate with double green beans and another with greens beans and Mac. MAJ if you read this, chef's kiss! Amazing!!!
I shop at Canseco’s daily and went in today to get my usual very thin/ shaved ham and the lady rudely told me “we don’t do that here”. I get it there all the time. Just tell me you’re lazy. It’s a shame when one rude person can change your outlook bc I’ve always loved Canseco’s.
Living nearby we shop at Arabi. The store is well run, good quality, friendly, helpful however realizing its a small store the pricing is higher than competitor. It is great on sale items and the deli is always stocked and the food is great. The rotisserie chicken is a must have with the soups and appetizers
