With a 4.3 rating across 317 reviews, the shop draws consistent local attention for its practical combination of value and food that customers describe as fresh. The fried fish sandwich is the signature choice most frequently mentioned in customer reviews. Guests describe the fish as crisp on the outside, hot and tender inside, served in a warm bun, and several say they favor it over the chicken sandwich. Both fish and chicken sandwiches appear to come with mayonnaise, while individual sandwiches were reported at about $3.50. The menu experiences shared by customers also include egg tarts, hot dog buns, and pineapple buns with red bean paste filling. One visitor ordered a dozen sandwiches along with bakery items, showing that the selection can suit a group pickup as readily as a single, quick meal. It is a useful balance of savory, handheld food and classic sweet bread options.
Expect a simple, no-frills atmosphere with a businesslike pace. Multiple reviews refer to quick service, reasonable prices, and a steady stream of people coming through the door. The popularity of the fish sandwich can mean a line: one Tuesday afternoon customer found about ten people ahead, while other guests reported no line later in the afternoon or a manageable wait on a Saturday morning. Arrival time can make a difference, so visiting early or outside the busiest window may be helpful when time is limited. Rather than promising a long sit-down experience, Chinese Bakery & Deli appears best suited to customers who appreciate an efficient visit and food with clear, familiar flavors.
Hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM; the bakery is closed Monday. Those hours work well for an early sandwich, a breakfast stop, lunch before the afternoon close, or bringing home egg tarts and buns for others. Nearby residents, commuters, families, and sandwich fans can all find a reason to visit, particularly if a warm fish sandwich and soft bread sound appealing. Whether you are planning a small takeout order or a larger batch of sandwiches, Chinese Bakery & Deli remains a specific local option on Manor Boulevard in San Leandro, CA. Check the day and visit time before heading over, especially when hoping to avoid a peak-period line.

Sign in to reviewI got there in the afternoon around 2:10pm on a Tuesday and there was a line of about 10 people in front of me. I ordered a dozen chicken sandwiches, fish sandwiches, egg tarts, hotdog bun, pineapple bun with red bean paste filling. The prices are reasonable. The chicken sandwich gets a 7.5/10. The chicken is moist, white sauce they used on it is good not too overpowering but most of the sauce ends up at the backside of the bun. If they added an option to add a pickle then it would be an 8.5/10. The fish sandwich gets a 8/10. Fish sandwich is crispy on the outside especially near the outer edges, moist on the inside. Same white sauce used on both sandwiches. Egg custard were delicious, not too sweet and the crust is flaky but the price is a bit on the expensive side (believe it was $2 for just one). Taste is 8/10, price is 4/10 Hotdog bun is the same as everywhere. Nothing special. 6/10 Pineapple bun is a bit dry. The red bean paste is just a round paste on the inside, not evenly distributed. 5.5/10 Parking lot has a ton of parking.
This place is really awesome! No frills, cheap, and delicious fresh, soft bread. They specialize in fried fish sandwiches. It cost $3.50. I liked it much better than the chicken breast one which is not as moist and tender as the fish. It’s super trendy right now so you have to go during non-peak hours otherwise there are crazy long lines. I went on a weekday right before the lunch rush and I only had to wait about 10 minutes. Their butter pineapple buns and green onions buns are also really good.
This place is about business. I love it. Arrived early to beat the line, and see what the hoop-la was all about. They were open early, which was awesome. We'll, im definitely a fan! The fish sandwich was so definitely worth the money. I quickly ate 2 and realized they were fresh, and on a warm bun that was just prepared a few minutes before. I do suggest that you come with some patience because the traffic is non-stop and people are flowing in and out. They have 3 registers to speed up the line. This is not a place to sit down and eat, so be prepared to grab and go. Customer service is friendly and seemed to welcome a quick hello, as they prepared my order. Some items sell out quickly, so pretty order, or call ahead so your not disappointed. Enjoy!
Came here to say that the drive is worth it. It was breakfast for me . Each sandwich [whether chicken or fish] is 3.50 each ! So good.. they’re quick work service and the wait was not bad. Came here on a Saturday morning at 10-11am. Both sandwiches come with a mayo nothing special but cheap, and just the right amount of everything! Even eating it hours later it was was still crispy and it is not overly friend. Perfection!
Foods were all good! Fish burger is to die for. Taste fresh, crispy outside hot and tender inside! Next time, I'll try to have 3 to 5 their crispy fish patties. We were there for the first time around 1:40p. No line but steady stream of customers in and out. Like the person parked next to us, we had our first bite first thing in the seats.
