Chowrastha - Groceries, Halal Meat & Eatery

I recently visited Chourastha in the Dallas area and had a really good experience overall. The food was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. We tried the poori with chicken curry, and it was excellent. The poori was soft and fluffy, and the chicken curry paired perfectly with it—rich, well-spiced, and very comforting. We also had the mutton curry, which was equally impressive. The meat was tender and cooked really well, with great depth of flavor 👍. One of the highlights was the chicken tikka Frankie—it was the best! 🌯 It was generously stuffed with chicken, very fresh, and packed with amazing flavor in every bite. Definitely something I would go back for. We tried fruit custard, it was heavenly, creamy custard, fresh fruits and enough sweetness We also tried the vankaya (eggplant) pulao, which was just okay compared to the other dishes. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t stand out as much. I ordered an appetizer at this restaurant after being told by the staff that it would be spicy and flavorful. Unfortunately, the dish was the complete opposite of what was promised. Instead of having any heat or balanced seasoning, it was overwhelmingly sweet and extremely unpleasant in taste. The flavor combination felt poorly prepared and honestly made the appetizer difficult to enjoy. What made the experience more disappointing was the misleading recommendation from the staff. I specifically asked for something spicy, yet what arrived tasted nothing like it. It felt like a complete waste of both time and money. I genuinely do not understand why this place is consistently crowded because the quality of the food I received was far below expectations. The appetizer lacked freshness, proper seasoning, and overall quality. It was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. I would not recommend this dish to anyone, especially if you are expecting authentic spicy flavor. Very disappointing experience overall.

I went to this restaurant for tea and snacks and bought a Korean garlic bun. When I ready to eat it, I suddenly saw mold on top of the bread. I was really shocked. I went to the front desk and told them, but they didn’t seem worried at all. The staff acted like it was normal, which is not okay. After that, I started feeling sick. I’m not sure if it was because of the food, but this is very unsafe and unacceptable. I asked for a refund. ⚠️ Warning for other customers: Please Double check your food carefully before eating. Even if it looks good from outside, check inside too. You never know if it is fresh or not. I hope they take this seriously and improve their quality. This should not happen to anyone.

Why to bluff your customers. If you are 86 of an item then mark it out. You cannot sell a different dish on the other name. Make sure scam should not be on blood. Damn disappointed! Look at the attached picture. Does it look like a Goat pepper fry or proper apollo fish? 🤷🏻‍♂️
