Amazing food! I especially liked the pho, honestly one of the best ones I have had in my life! We also had the grilled pork chops and they were amazing! We got our drinks super fast and our food as well. As a Hispanic guy, I love Vietnamese food and I go to many places. But in my opinion this place is the best!

Broken rice is quite good. I would also have preferred to have a plate and silverware for dining in….but I get the fast casual concept I guess. I really like the lemonades. I wish this place would serve banh mi, I think it would be a hit, and not take up too much kitchen space. Owners say they don’t want to copy their sister restaurant already doing banh mi, but I’m telling you, nobody around here is going to drive 15 min to Newark to try your banh mi.

This review is for Com Tam Bros, located near Costco and Whole Foods. Overall, my experience was okay, but there were several areas that left me disappointed. Starting with parking, there was plenty of available parking, which made the visit convenient. Upon entering the restaurant, the experience was smooth. Customers have the option to either use self-checkout kiosks or place an order directly at the front counter. The employees were friendly and helpful, so no complaints there. For my meal, I ordered a rice plate and the Little Bro Plate, which comes with three items. I chose the grilled chicken and also ordered a Vietnamese coffee. One thing I noticed right away is that the restaurant operates more like a takeout-focused business. Based on the menu and presentation, I expected a more traditional dine-in experience. Instead, everything is served in disposable containers and paper trays. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that, but it felt a bit misleading compared to what I expected. Unfortunately, the food was the biggest disappointment. The grilled chicken lacked the flavor and aroma typically found in authentic Vietnamese-style grilled chicken. It tasted more like plain chicken with sauce added afterward rather than being properly marinated and grilled. The egg was also bland, and the accompanying sauce felt watered down and lacked depth of flavor. The Vietnamese coffee was okay, but it wasn’t particularly strong or memorable. I personally wouldn’t order it again. As for the dining area, I didn’t stay to eat, but while waiting for my food I noticed that the restaurant felt surprisingly warm. Interestingly, the restroom was the complete opposite—it was cool and comfortable, with the air conditioning running strongly. It would be nice if some of that cooling reached the dining area as well. If you’ve had authentic Vietnamese cơm tấm before, especially from well-known spots in San Jose or areas with larger Vietnamese communities, you may find this restaurant lacking. The food felt very Americanized and toned down, perhaps to appeal to a broader audience. While that may work for some customers, it didn’t deliver the authentic flavors I was hoping for. To be fair, I have only tried the rice plate so far. If I return, I would be willing to give their pho or rice noodle dishes a chance before making a final judgment. Overall, Com Tam Bros does a great job with branding, convenience, and customer service, but the food execution needs improvement. I wouldn’t personally recommend the rice plates based on my experience. If you’re looking for authentic Vietnamese comfort food, there are stronger options elsewhere. However, if you’re simply looking for something quick and convenient close to home, it may still be worth trying for yourself.

This place the food was not good at all. We ate there and the food comes in to go containers which takes the fun out of eating a nice plate of com tam with grilled pork. It’s harder to eat in a to go container. The pork was cold, rice was not tasty, my friends grilled pork was burnt. The shrimp and avacado spring roll was horrible with old avocado in it. They ran out of the other spring roll at 11:30 and they open at 11. The ordering machine was not working. They have to fix their food before it’s too late to survive. I know it’s new but they should really have better marinated tasting pork if it their signature. I would tell others to wait a few months to try it again. Hope they can make it.
