Dim sum is a natural place to begin. Reviewers mention shrimp dumplings, known as har gow, and barbecue pork buns, or char siu bao, describing both as delicious and noting that the portions were a good size for the price. These familiar favorites make the menu appealing for a casual meal, a shared spread, or anyone looking to sample a couple of small plates. Dan Dan noodles also stand out in customer comments: one diner praised the soft noodles and flavorful sauce. Stewed beef with turnip is another dish a reviewer singled out as a favorite, giving guests additional options beyond dim sum.

The experience appears especially well suited to groups and diners who like to pass dishes around the table rather than order only for themselves. Guests can build a meal from appetizers, noodles, and other shared plates, making it a practical choice for friends, family, or a relaxed dinner together. Takeout is also an option mentioned in customer feedback: one order was ready on time and included white rice. As with any restaurant, individual preferences vary. Reviews are not uniformly positive; one diner found the Peking duck dry, while another did not enjoy the spicy tofu fish. Checking the menu and choosing dishes that match your tastes can help set expectations.

We were treated to takeout dinner from Jane G's. Our order was ready on time and included a free container of white rice. We sampled 2 of their dim sum appetizers, shrimp dumplings (har gow) and bbq pork buns (char sio bao). Both appetizers were delicious and the portion was a good size for the price. Their scallion pancakes were light, cripy and flavorful. Our group picked Jane G's because they offer a good selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes. The tofu with sauce was excellent. We would also recommend their lo mein, which can be ordered with a variety of meat or seafood mixed in. We got the shrimp lo mein. The classic beef and broccoli dish was also well done. Since the portions are generous, we had enough leftovers for another dinner.

Dim Sum House is pretty decent among the dim sum spots in Center City. I thought all the dim sum items we ordered were good. However, the Peking duck we ordered was really disappointing. It was extremely dry, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

This resturant single handedly made me love coming to Philly. I'm already in love with Asian cuisine but this resturant is by far one of the best Asian restaurants I've been too! …

Slightly above average Chinese food. It’s great for groups and sharing everything family style. My favorites were the Dan Dan noodles (super soft noodles and yummy sauce) and stewed beef and turnip. I did not like the spicy tofu fish as the fish was too fishy, and did not like the texture of the string beans, which felt like it was not cooked thoroughly, altho the taste was pretty good with the pickled vegetables on top. Other dishes were good as well, including the soup dumplings and dry pot chicken. We ordered a tequila shot but it tasted like it was diluted with 50% water. It also took a very long time for the waiters to even get us a pencil for marking the menu. But after we ordered the food came out quite quickly.
