Dong Hing Supermarket is a longtime Asian grocery store in San Francisco, CA, serving shoppers from Chinatown and beyond who want fresh ingredients for everyday cooking. Located at 1210 Stockton St, this neighborhood market stands out for its practical selection, steady hours from morning to early evening every day of the week, and a shopping experience that feels rooted in the rhythm of the community. For locals searching for an Asian market in San Francisco with produce, pantry basics, and butcher service in one stop, Dong Hing Supermarket is a dependable place to know.

What many customers remember most about Dong Hing Supermarket is its fresh food selection. Reviews consistently highlight seasonal vegetables and fruits, with produce that shoppers describe as excellent and often very fresh. Some items may only appear for a short window, which gives the store the feel of a market where what is available reflects the season rather than a generic shelf list. Shoppers have also called out specific ingredients such as Thai basil, along with a broad range of sauces and condiments that help home cooks pull together Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai, and other Asian dishes with less hassle.

Another defining feature of this Asian grocery store in San Francisco is its butcher-serviced meat department. Even though the storefront may look compact, customers say the shop offers a full-service butcher experience, including unique Asian cuts of pork and a more old-fashioned market style than many chain grocers. That makes it especially useful for cooks who care about specific cuts for soups, stir-fries, braises, or hot pot meals at home. If you are looking for a market in San Francisco where fresh produce and butcher service come together under one roof, Dong Hing Supermarket fits that need well.

The atmosphere here is simple, busy, and neighborhood-oriented. Reviews mention good prices and competitive value, which adds to its appeal for regular grocery runs. Shoppers also note that checkout lines can require patience, especially during busier moments, but many still feel the quality and pricing make the visit worthwhile. There are also comments praising friendly service at the register, which adds a welcoming touch to an otherwise straightforward shopping experience. It is the kind of place that works well for home cooks, families, and anyone who prefers buying ingredients with freshness and function in mind.

For anyone planning a visit to Dong Hing Supermarket in San Francisco, CA, it is helpful to come prepared and shop a little earlier in the day if possible. Customer feedback notes that the store may begin packing up before closing time, and multiple reviews mention that shoppers should bring cash rather than expect credit or debit card payment. For Chinatown residents, nearby workers, and cooks seeking fresh vegetables, seasonal finds, sauces, and butcher cuts, Dong Hing Supermarket remains a useful local stop with a distinctly community-based feel.

Good old-fashioned Asian market with a real, butcher-serviced, meat department. Great selection of seasonal veggies and fruits. Prices are good. The line to pay may take patience but it was worth the wait. They do carry limited dry good, and refrigerated, items.

So happy to learn they have Thai basil available here 🥳 now when I need it randomly, I know where to go (in Chinatown). $2 a bag and extra bonus, the younger girl working at the register is SO nice and pleasant. Dong Hing sells almost every sauce/condiment you may need and the produce is excellent quality. The shop is super clean and very well organized 👌🏻

The place may look small but it's a full-service butcher shop (lots of unique Asian cuts of pork) as well as some of the freshest fruits and vegetables in town, and very seasonal, with some vegetables that may only appear for a few days, like "Japanese Spinach", and prices are very competitive (with plenty of other vendors all around). There are also the assorted pantry stuff from sauces and tofu and noodles and plenty of frozen meat and fish as well. The main problem is... the aisles are VERY narrow, and it's usually crowded, esp. at the butcher section.

They start packing up the store 30 minutes before close, they do not accept credit or debit as it says on their business posting
