Dr. Qing Dong, MD ( 董青小儿科医學博士 )

I almost passed up on Dr. Dong when searching for a pediatrician because of the google reviews. I’m so glad I didn’t. She’s been the greatest gift to our little family. Dr. Dong displayed expertise from day one. She guided us on how to care for our newborn daughter who had jaundice. Within days, our daughter got better. Dr. Dong continues to teach us preventative measures in caring for our baby rather than waiting to treat the symptoms. She eased our worries as first time parents with simple to execute guides. Her less is more approach to caring for children makes parenting a lot more enjoyable. Yet her focus on the big things and important details earns my full trust. In addition, Dr. Dong’s understanding of common eastern practices is invaluable to our family. My parents play a huge role in helping us raise our daughter. They’re very old school Chinese and often rely on TCM methods. Being exposed to modern medicine that may contradict with traditional methods makes me confused on what is safe and unsafe for my child. Dr. Dong is able to draw on research to help clear up confusions I have and our family is able to combine eastern and western methods to help address health concerns that arise. The entire office at Sound Pediatrics is equally exceptional. They are responsive, knowledgeable and very pleasant at every interaction.

On June 25, 2024, I requested an appointment for my ill 9-month-old child via the health portal. The next day, June 26, 2024, I received a callback at 9:13 am offering an 11:45 am appointment. I asked for 10 minutes to confirm with the child's mother if she could bring him in. The mother called the office back shortly after to reschedule the appointment to 3:15 pm, and instructing the clinic not to notify the father and initiator of the appointment, which resulted in unnecessarily prolonging my child's suffering by an additional 4 hours. This miscommunication and disregard for parental involvement in appointment scheduling are concerning and unacceptable. I expected better coordination and communication from a pediatric clinic entrusted with children's health. I hope my feedback prompts Sounds Pediatrics to improve their appointment scheduling processes for the benefit of all patients and their families.

Dr. Dong has been taking care of my daughter since my daughter was a baby. Dr. Dong is very caring and patient. She also responds to her patients after normal business hours. She is thorough and believes that children have strong immune system and therefore she prevents abuse and misuse of medicine. She is one the best pediatricians on the peninsula.

We were visiting SFO for vacation and our daughter caught some kind of eye infection. Dr. Dong was able to accommodate us on short notice. She diagnosed the problem perfectly and prescribed us medication that showed results in Justine day. She was very courteous and thorough in her evaluation. Even gave us her direct cell number in case we needed consultation during our trip. Thanks Dr. Dong.

Dr. Dong has other Drs. working this office and I wonder if they are even qualified. They barely even looked at my son's infected eye, I assume it was an infected eye because there was no diagnosis, they just quickly assigned a medication after I told them what I thought it was. The Dr. in place consulted with the receptionist about which medication was appropriate which I find odd. I have low confidence in this clinic.
