The atmosphere is lovely and calming. Some booths felt like birdcages, which is quite creative. This decor lend to a very solid perfect, especially with some 1980s pop music playing. There are lots of bird paintings, including one in the bathroom that I found especially funny. We had a reservation for 12 p.m., and we got our tables after a short wait. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The parking was validated by the hosts, but you can also validate it yourself with a QR code. What is most important is to remember your license plate as it is needed for the validation. My table ordered the pastries basket app. The scone with spam and cheddar was my favorite. The donuts with cream filling were good, and the Portuguese egg tart was a nice surprise. The Vietnamese onion soup with oxtail was good, but I think it was the least memorable part of the meal, which is not an indictment of it, but a testament to the quality of everything offered here. The $5 unlimited AYCE pancake is a nice bonus for the table. My table and I ate a lot of them. They were very tasty, and the toppings were great, especially the somewhat spicy syrup. For the main course, I chose the Chicken Sandwich with fries, and it was great. I especially liked using chicken thighs instead of breast. Thighs are more forgiving when cooking because they don’t dry out as easily. The coleslaw was a nice acidic contrast that worked perfectly, and I would recommend it. The average spent in my table was around 25 per person, which is something to keep in mind in your visit. However with the offerings and attentive service I am glad to have paid for this. Ellie Bird is a gem spot nestled in Falls Church.
Updated review in June ‘26: we came back for dinner. The dinner was delicious - citrus salad, spring pea toast, fennel rigatoni, hamachi collar donburi, and chocolate cake. The service was okay (e.g., we waited for a very long time between dishes and for the check). It’s on the pricier side - closer to $90-100 per person for dinner without drinks. ——- 1st time review: The chicken burger, duck confit hash, and tornado omelet with the fried rice were all pretty good, and the unlimited pancake was fluffy and nice. Ube latte was not bad. Overall, the food was on the heavier side.
We had a wonderful time for the Valentines Day Dinner experience. We sat at the chefs table and saw all the dishes being created with care. At one point we saw the head chef come out, taste a dish, gather the other chefs from the pass and adjust the flavors so it was just right - even during a busy dinner service. It felt like being behind the scenes on a high end cooking show! My wife has shellfish and nut allergies and we were wonderfully taken care of in that regard. All the food was absolutely delicious. The tuna carpaccio was our favorite, followed closely by the short rib over grits. We ate so much we felt like we would explode, even though the portions were well sized for a four course meal (we got plenty to enjoy and finished every. single. bite). The serving team provided fresh silverware after every course and wiped our table down before our next dish and we felt treated like royalty. The drinks were expertly crafted and so smooth and gorgeously presented to match. We can’t afford to spend this much on dinner often, but we may make Valentines Day a yearly tradition here regardless of price. It really was that phenomenal.
Can't believe it took me this long to eat here. Definitely worth it. Can't go wrong with anything u pick. The only think that competes with the food is the quality of the drinks. However both of those are outshine by the service. This place definitely makes it onto my standard rotation list.
One of my favorite restaurants in the Falls Church area. Always a good meal and always with a twist. I like the Asian fusion approach to the menu. I also love that the tasting menu can be enjoyed by one or the whole table.
