As a local Medical Center in San Francisco, Excelsior Health Services appears to be a place patients turn to for ongoing primary care relationships as well as post-discharge follow-up concerns. For those searching for care close to home in San Francisco, CA, that sense of familiarity can be an important part of deciding where to go for regular health management.

At the same time, public feedback reflects a mixed experience, and that is worth knowing if you are considering Excelsior Health Services. Some reviewers describe challenges with front-desk communication, scheduling coordination, prescription processing, and whether visits are handled in person or by video. Others mention wanting more patience and clearer follow-up during sensitive medical situations. These comments suggest that patients who need time-sensitive prescriptions, detailed care coordination, or specific appointment preferences may want to confirm logistics in advance, including visit format, timing, and insurance details. That kind of preparation may help set expectations and make the experience smoother.

For local residents comparing medical offices in San Francisco, Excelsior Health Services may be most relevant for patients who want an established community clinic with regular office hours and access on Saturdays. It may also appeal to those who prefer staying within the Excelsior neighborhood rather than traveling farther across the city for basic care needs. As with any healthcare choice, it helps to call ahead, ask practical questions, and make sure the clinic’s approach matches your needs. In a city where convenience, continuity, and communication all matter, being informed before your visit can help you decide whether this Medical Center is the right fit for you or your family.

We had a deeply disappointing experience with Dr. Aung Kyaw Soe Maung. My mom had just been discharged from both the hospital and a nursing facility, and we came in with several important follow-up concerns regarding her health. Unfortunately, Dr. Maung showed no compassion or patience. He didn’t take the time to listen to us or address our questions, often brushing off our concerns and making us feel dismissed and belittled. To make matters worse, he abruptly ended the visit without saying goodbye, offering next steps, or even returning my mom’s full set of medical discharge papers. The lack of professionalism and empathy was extremely upsetting during what was already a stressful and vulnerable time for our family. I highly do not recommend Dr. Maung and would avoid if possible — unless you want to feel rushed or belittled.

The staff are unprofessional and rude. There’s also a clear disconnect between the doctors and nurses for when appointments should be on what time and whether they’re in-person or virtual. If you have a financial situation and your insurance isn’t fixed or stable, staff seems to give an unpleasant vibe and look down on you. They don’t treat everyone equally.

dr scott huang and his staff are so inefficient they had failed to act on my prescriptions promptly. ran out of medicines twice and in both times had to call them to act on my prescriptions. requests for authorization from pharmacy sat for three days. horrible and incompetent. put my health at risk. never even returned call to me and give me an explanation for the problem.

Bad staff service, requests an appointment to see the doctor for a stuffed nose. The staff refused not in person only video zoom and told the doctor won't see patients . This is such a service as a medical services staff for taking a call by patient
