Reviews point to haircut and color services as some of the main reasons people return. Clients mention dramatic transformations, including taking off significant length and reshaping the hair into something that feels completely new. Others specifically highlight bright, vibrant color and say their hair still felt soft and looked shiny even after multiple coloring sessions over time. That makes G Salon especially relevant for anyone in San Francisco who wants more than a basic trim, whether that means a bold color refresh or a cut tailored to texture, including wavy hair.
A few stylists are mentioned by name in customer feedback, especially Amanda and Chris. Like many salons, experiences can depend on the stylist and service requested, so some customers seem to find the best fit by booking with the person whose strengths match their goals. That is often a helpful detail for anyone choosing a salon in a city with many options.

Sign in to reviewI saw someone post that this isn't the place to do bright colors... let me tell you how wrong they are. Amanda is the only person I let touch my hair. All of these photos are in the last two years I believe, and my hair still feels soft and looks shiny, even considering how many times it's been colored. I could not recommend G-Salon more. Amanda has done my hair every color and combination I can think of. I have been on a green blue kick lately, but she has done them all. She's also awesome to talk to while she works. Make sure to book with her and I promise you won't regret it.
Chris Lee did a phenomenal job with my hair! He chopped off about 8 inches and gave me a total transformation. The scalp massage during the shampoo was an unexpected bonus! I was cautious on trusting someone with such a big hair cut, especially having wavy hair, but it feels like I got a makeover. Thank you, Chris, for refreshing my confidence and giving me a whole new style! Will definitely be my go-to guy for any future hair decision.
Too inconsistent! I've been a customer of theirs on multiple occasions and the quality of the haircut has ranged from really bad to really good. Anyhow, I have moved on to a different stylist, but be forewarned, peeps!
Edited: I said I wasn't going to come again but I have. I really quite like the salon and Chris does great cuts. I just don't get vibrant colors with Chris anymore. I saw another poster who has beautiful vibrant colors with Amanda. I've been seeing Chris a few years and usually get a similar haircut and then some vibrant pop color dyes. Usually the cut is great, but multiple times the color is wrong. Once I asked for hot pink and got purple. This latest I asked for teal and got pastel blue. For the cost I will just use Overtone at home. Chris shouldn't offer services for colors if he doesn't know how to mix them properly. Aside from that it's a nice salon, quiet, relaxing, simple.
Not only did Chris give me a good cut and shampoo but it was like a ninja doing it. Super fast at it.
